My stay

Food was horrible!! The steak and chicken burger not sure if we will get a refund, offered a £10 cocktail on an £80, pillows very hard to sleep on and not comfortable. Amenities that were offered were not at in the room. Jacuzzi was not turned on just before 8pm

I don't usually feel the need to complain but on this occasion I need to express my concerns. As a Mercure Hotel brand you expect a high level of standards Firstly positive start, the checking was one of the most welcoming `I have had and hats off to the team. But then it went down hill from there Although the room was clean and tidy its not been updated and is now dated and need of a refurbishment. Handles missing from drawers, bath needed sealing and to top it all the shower only had cold water!!! But what finished me off was the meal in the bar!!! Pepperoni Pizza - One of the worst Pizza ever had and I had a few. IMO done by the trainee looked like one you get from your kids. If its a difficult process there are a number of companies offering Pizza concept Enough cheese and tomato sauce for 4 pizza to the extent the cheese was tipping over the edge. So only had half Then thought well i just order a desert and ordered a simple coffee creme brulee but not set and runny. If its a challange, order in pre made at least there acceptable. I did pass on my concerns to the receptionist and when I returned they said they had spoken to the manager and the feedback was that it was not busy so did not understand why they had issues. No contact from the management but you have ask were they really interested as only staying one night. then to top it all off the printer was not working so had to email me. I'm sure they are trying but they need to look at the detail

So upon check in at 3:30pm we were advised that the restaurant was fully booked. We were looking forward to a nice ribeye steak but were left with just the bar food options. Gutted. Went to our room to find there were 3 light bulbs not working, the telephone didn’t appear to dial out so if we needed anything would have to walk from the stable block at the back of the hotel in the rain to the reception. There were no tea making facilities although on the positive there was a fridge an iron a hairdryer and the room was clean and we eventually got the remote for the tv to work after taking the batteries out and back in again. We used the pool facilities- it looked dated - the pool cover was very well worn and ripped and looked a state. The steps at one side were taped off as broken the grill on the jacuzzi was broken. The jacuzzi itself was that hot when I got out I felt dizzy. Not a great experience. The reception called to offer us a slightly later than wanted slot in the restaurant which I thought was lovely but when I then asked to go ahead with it they said oh no sorry that time isn’t available (eh!!) so We ended up ordering a dominoes pizza delivery which the staff were absolutely fine about but we just had to eat in our room which was also not bad. To end the night the bed mattress you could feel the shape of the springs on it when lying down. Overall we think the hotel is dated and a bit run down in certain areas and we would not return in the future.

Last minute booking and we loved it great location lovely room and comfortable bed made use of the pool jacuzzi and steam room great bar food shame someone woke us up at 6am banging on a door for a while obviously locked out still not the hotel’s fault will definitely stay again

Generally very good but room was a bit tired, on our first full day the room wasn’t serviced, we had a lot of flies in the room and our food order in the bar appeared to be missed with later orders served before us (then only arrived after I queried it)
