A unique stay

Absolutely amazing place. A very unique experience for sure. We had a couples night and weren’t disappointed. What a conversion. Food was great! I would absolutely recommend and return however was very miffed at being charged a £9 service charge for being brought an iron to use! Second minor jiggle was having no mirror by the dressing table.

Really great place to stay

We stayed as a stop over after visiting the Eden project. We were really impressed by the building, service and setting. The rooms were really well presented and had all the luxuries you could ask for. The restaurant was excellent quality again helped by the really exceptional service. We look forward to returning.

A very unique hotel. The family cell is (and I think that they are all like this) three original cells knocked into one. Bathroom was lovely and spacious, only downer was that there was a long hair in the shower and in the bath. The bath only ran at two temps too; very hot or boiling, so we had to let that cool down significantly before we could use it. The “well stocked” mini bar consisted of two bottles of water; still and sparkling and two bottles of milk, very disappointing, there is more in a budget-chain hotel fridge. And the safe was already locked so we couldn’t use that. Any staff that we bumped into whilst at the hotel were incredibly friendly and helpful if we needed anything. Very quiet hotel lobby, never been in such a quiet hotel reception and it does have a wow factor as you go in. We had a delicious breakfast in the hotel but ate out in the village of St Kew for our dinner. The Champagne Bar was quiet when we were there (mid-week), but the cocktails were great and nice soft drinks for our under 18’s. All in all a lovely place to stay and enjoy some history. We did the self-guided museum tour after breakfast as we didn’t want to get our children frightened before bedtime. That was a very interesting and cool tour, I’d recommend that as part of your stay too. If you are looking for something unusual and a bit of luxury to go with it, then this is your hotel.

Everything was excellent, apart from I believe under staffed, as we had to abort sweet etc, after waiting 40 mins after main course, to even see if we would like a sweet.very disappointing, but everything else was totally excellent.

Uniqie. Top quality facilities and service

This is an outstanding and unique experience to stay at this hotel. It's evident that a lot of money has been spent converting this derelict jail into a luxury hotel. Such attention to detail in every part of the hotel. The rooms are well appointed with everything you need including effective air conditioning. But it's the service which wins the day. Friendly, efficient and respectful. Special mention to Restaurant Manager, Edward for picking up on my individual preferences and Matty the barmaid in the Chapel Champagne bar for her cheery demeanour. The food was top class. Great choice of locally sourced produce. While you're there you must take the adjacent tour. Very cleverly presented and very instructive. I'll be happy to be locked up in this jail anytime

Amazing stay for our anniversary weekend. Staff were attentive, recognised our anniversary. Rooms were great, complimentary mini bar added bonus. We also did the Bodmin Jail Experience, well worth a visit. Would definitely recommend and also for us we would do a return visit

Lovely three night stay with my daughter. Very welcoming and attentive staff. Always said hello and asked if we needed anything as soon as they saw us. The room was well presented with a mini fridge as well as the usual tea&coffee. The bathroom was lovely and warm with a nice big shower (and separate deep bath). Lovely fluffy towels and robes. It took a while to get the temperature right in the room (it was very warm) but we got there with a little play on the controller. The Chapel restaurant was also too warm for us so we had breakfast in our room on the 2nd & 3rd mornings. The selection and quality of food was excellent although the chef didn’t want to bend from the prescribed menu - pancakes came with berries. Bacon came as part of the cooked breakfast. We requested pancakes with bacon not berries. It took a bit of persuading but we got there. A really quiet stay, couldn’t hear any other guests at all through the thick walls. I enjoyed it so much I’m hoping to return with my husband and visit the museum as well next time
