There was an awful smell throughout the hotel, like drains or a portaloo. The beds in our room (6) were terribly old and uncomfortable, every time you moved the children woke up as they were so squeaky, the mattresses were discolored and stained.
The bathroom was old and in great need of modernization, the shower didn't work, however the maintenance man sorted it out straight away. We were only provided with one towel each. Toiletries and chocolate was a nice touch. However we would not stay here again. Lovely view and position. Not quite sure why this hotel has 8/10 score. (this is why we booked it) Shame as it could be really nice with some updating and new beds.

Great hosts
Excellent service and very friendly hosts both on the phone and in person. Good sized room, but there were areas where it could have been a little cleaner in the bathroom and carpets.
Great communication and easy check in just ring ahead 20 mins before you arrive. Excellent location for the leascliffe hall and a nice walk along the cliff or the beach to Sandgate. Recommend.

Location and staff are good
The hotel room plan itself is not ideal - I did not like the option to have the sink near my pillow (the room was tiny)
Staff were very friendly and helpful. We booked a car parking space, £6 overnight which was extremely convenient in a private parking lot/garage opposite the hotel.
You can also get a parking permit on the road outside for £4 if you're lucky enough to get a space.
The room was standard, but big with plenty of space, beds were very comfy and cosy and towels were lovely and soft, it included bathroom and toilet, some rooms don't and are on a separate floor.
They offer a continental style breakfast which we didn't try as we were looking to have hot food so we went out.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and would visit again
Helpful staff good room, good price, good location.

It served its purpose as we were leaving early to get le shuttle . staff at check was lovely . Bed really uncomfortable . Bedding and towels were lovely a clean though .
We stayed here prior to Le shuttle, our room was recently decorated, clean and quiet and at a great price. The staff were helpful polite and cheerful.
We paid an addition £4 for the on-street parking after 8am.
We’d use Westward Ho again
Excellent Budget stopover. Clean, warm & good location for Eurotunnel. Reception member Jay checked us in (we called 20 mins prior to arrival as instructed) & gave us all the relevant info - very friendly & helpful. Dog friendly. We’ll be back 👍
All mostly good could do with a working lift to top floor

Comfortable bed in small room with a great seaside view and a cold breakfast for a very decent price, comparatively. Downside was that the TV didn’t work, veggie options for breakfast were minimal and the building was a bit musty

Good location and size of room but in poor condition. The communal areas are poor too.
Staff was good but breakfast was more of something very basic and no cooked items.
Could have done the interior properly as they have few many properties and need looking after urgently.
Property was clean and room was comfortable.
Stairs were hard work and parking was limited.
We walked to the town centre , so that we didn't lose our space
