The hotel was very noisy on two of the nights we stayed - the first because of guests shouting and banging doors well after midnight and the second because of a function room with a band and very poor sound proofing. (They did stop at midnight)The room was large but old and tired looking and there we no power outlets near the bed for changing phones etc. Staff were helpful and the grounds pleasant but our window looked straight at thick trees.

Nice little place out in the sticks. A little bit tired in some places. Check in and out can be quite disjointed and easily tweaked. Would recommend staying here. Bring sliders or flipflops for the pool area.

Disappointing. Small dark room .Noisy at night as close to wedding group .Unaware room refresh and bed making had to be requested. Not done during stay . Full buffet cooked breakfast only . No Continental . Cooked breakfast lukewarm. Bacon overcooked . Sliced bread for toast had blue mould and had to be replaced.

Although the Grill bar staff were excellent,the ambiance and room was not sufficient for a wonderful relaxing special meal. It is at the end of the day only a Grill Bar and not what we expected. As I say the staff were brilliant but obviously under staffed. You have a perfectly good space for breakfast but if one wants a special treat theBar Grill is not intimate for a relaxing meal. Check in was poor as we arrived at the same time as a coach party. When I told Receptionist we were not with the party she asked the 2 of us to wait until the party had been dealt with. Not great service. Room and rest of stay very comfortable

Value for money, but needs a good clean!

Hotel is in a great location, surrounded by a stunning golf course. The rooms are a good size, the old building is very impressive, and the pool and gym is great. We had a good stay, and the hotel offered value for money, however the cleaning and service offered a lot to be desired. The room needed a really good clean, and even after asking reception three times, and telling them exactly where the dust in the room was, it was not cleaned. The hotel is undergoing (much needed) maintenance, which started at 0730, and happened to be in the room above ours, however we were not told in advance. When I mentioned this to reception I was met with a shrug. On the last night there was a fire alarm at 2am, when we went outside we were told to go back to our rooms, and the following day it was not mentioned, let alone an apology. This hotel could be really nice, and has got lots of things going got it, however they need to improve the customer experience.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel as we just needed one night's accomodation in the area before moving on. We were pleasantly surprised by this delightful hotel - the room was clean, the staff were incredibly helful and the restaurant served excellent food - but, and it is an obvious but, the hotel is also a golf and country club so there are a lot of golfers at the bar and in dining room who were discussing their superb drives and missed putts! In summary, a lovely hotel and a very pleasant stay.
