This is a property from the 1800's so this should give you an idea of what to expect. Lots of grand original features and very traditional. My room was spacious, clean and extremely comfortable. The hosts were an absolute joy to be around and provided great company and conversation.
Breakfast was delicious and set me up nicely for the day. I would recommend without hesitation and I look forward to staying again.
People is the most important element of The Ostrich. I can truly feel the heart of Tony and his staff members, and surprisingly but naturally, his friends too, to best serve people and friends coming to The Ostrich.
I am most contended with my two days' stay with The Ostrich. The service is superb and with heart. The breafast Tony made everyday is wonderful. I had the opportunity of having Deborah's dinner and wow is my only response. I don't feel l am a customer there. Thank you Tony and The Ostrich!
The Ostrich Hotel was built in 1851, the same year that the railway station was opened (London Charing Cross to Hastings). Although located less than 35 yards from the station, we weren't disturbed by the trains. Decor and surroundings are interesting and reflect the period nature of buildings, however the welcome was warm; Tony and Rosemary did all they could to make us feel at home. Room was comfortable with the largest en suite facilities we've ever experienced. Any issues raised were quickly resolved.
Breakfast was superb, set us up for the days exploring the local area,
Very dated and in need of a huge refurb to bring it into this century, however the lovely couple who run it ooze friendliness and make you feel so at home.
We had a great stay with a good cooked breakfast. Tony the landlord and Crystal the singing barmaid made us feel so at home.
Such a quirky place, would stay again if we visited the village for the fireworks in the future again.
Really enjoyed staying here, very old quirky pub with very friendly owners who made me feel very welcome, would definitely stay again and highly recommend
