More like home than hotel

Pros: It's not a 5* hotel but is so much more interesting than contemporary places we have stayed in. It's quirky but not twee, and close to town centre.
Location: We had directions for a 2 mile walk around town, which included Anglican church St Peter & St Paul, worth a visit to see frescoes. And the castle too.
After our 5 hour journey, we arrived and Paul immediately offered us a complimentary pot of tea which turned out to be afternoon tea with said pot of tea, buttered scones and cakes. What a welcome. The restaurant for our evening meal (Spice 4U) recommended by Paul was terrific and excellent value. Having an on-site car park behind the hotel was a bonus. Cracking breakfast cooked by Pauline. Lots of nice touches like sweets, notelets, selection of teas and even a sewing kit in the room. Good to see ironing facilities on every floor. Thank you Pauline and Paul. We'll be back.
