Dear Visitors, due to the COVID crisis we are at present sadly unable to accept any bookings for 2020 until all travel restrictions are lifted and we have received clear operating guidance from the government and County Council. We are taking bookings for 2021. Kindest regards
Built in 1875 and positioned in the hub of residential Penzance, within easy walking distance of 500m from the seafront and town centre, Longnor is perfect for families, friends and couples, being a great mix of spacious period property and contemporary comfort. This grand old lady still has a twinkle in her eye and has now been sympathetically renovated throughout while retaining all of the charm, character and warmth you would hope for.
Encompassing the top 3 floors of the house, the granite front steps lead to the ground floor. This comprises a generous inviting sitting room with two deep comfy sofas, made for kicking off your shoes and climbing up into and a large imposing decorative fireplace . There is a family sized TV and DVD player plus an eclectic collection of DVDs to choose from for all age groups, essential for keeping the younger members of the party entertained when a morning lie in is called for. Should there be any musicians among you, a glossy baby grand piano sits waiting in the bay window with sheet music supplied.
The light and airy dining room also has two sofas in which to catch a quiet moment before heading out for the day, or to relax in with a pre dinner drink. The well equipped kitchen has a gas hob and electric oven. It leads onto a private raised deck area, a real suntrap and perfect for a morning coffee, soaking up the rays. A little pack of essentials (including a drop or two of wine) will be standing by to welcome you on your arrival. If you intend on having a complete holiday, Longnor is located within easy walking distance from a whole host of dining options, from critically acclaimed restaurants such as The Shore, to takeaways serving the freshest fish and chips possible. The choice is yours.
On the first floor are three bedrooms, one with a super king size bed. The other equally large room houses a vintage French double corbeille bed, period armchair and chest of drawers plus a window seat. The third bedroom on this floor is a bright single room. A large family bathroom with freestanding bath and huge shower services the three bedrooms. It is also home to the laundry cupboard complete with washing machine. The top floor is a luminous loft style fourth bedroom with an en-suite shower room. The room is furnished with three single beds. Two of the beds can be joined to make a super king size depending on your requirements. The room also has it’s own cosy TV area and sea glimpses over the bay to Newlyn. Due to the number of stairs, this room is unsuitable for children under the age of 5.
Outside in addition to the raised deck, there is a staircase leading from it to the walled garden area for alfresco dining and a BBQ. This garden also has side access from the road so you can bring your surfboards, bikes and wetsuits in with ease.
Longnor is our family home, painstakingly restored over a number of years and now ready to welcome visitors in the summer months. While every effort has been made to make the house as comfortable as possible, it is not a 'new pin' but relaxed and loved without a coffee machine (cafetieres yes, machine no) vegetable steamer or table mats. You will find fresh flowers, art by local artists and a wealth of original features to make your stay enjoyable.
Regrettably due to the number of stairs in the property, those with limited mobility may find staying here difficult.
