Characterful house close to New Forest & Lymington
Stayed with 10 friends with average age of 60. Photos of house interior on Vrbo are generally accurate - those on the website for Wheathill show different furniture and soft furnishings. Overall1930s shabby chic vibe is very nice and as expected. Good location in rural residential area10 mins walk to nearest shop and a pub. Neighbours are very close by and pay close attention to people coming and going. Rooms were clean and beds had clean white bedding. Mattresses were very comfortable. There are three showers in the house but water pressure not great so we tried not to all shower at the same time. Heating was efficient and open fire in the lounge worked very well. Kitchen generally well equipped if you want to cook but second fridge/freezer did not work during our stay - it was not on when we arrived - so little cold storage for such a big group. Two large tables - one in kitchen and one in lounge meant we could all eat together with no problem. Only one tea towel provided so had to buy more. Garden not as shown on listing - no flower beds, lawn at front is now part of driveway and little grass at rear. Shrubs and trees at rear are overgrown, what grass there is was not cut so very limited open area and three massive bench tables take up a lot of space. Some cigarette butts/rubbish left around a table outside the back door. We were away from the house most of the time so not a big problem for us but something to consider if you want to use the garden in summer/have children. Finally, access details were sent by email from an address starting 'cottagehousekeeping' - not from Vrbo - so they went into my email Junk folder and we initially had a problem getting the entry code which is not put on the Vrbo app. Having searched Junk I found it but something to watch out for if you book. Generally recommended for a large group happy with clean, simply furnished, characterful, accommodation.
