Ok for a couple of nights

First off, the parking is inadequate. But there is a multistory 5+ minutes walk away. The room was too hot, and was quiet noisy from street noise with a very small double bed. The hotel is in the middle of the main pub area. It does eventually quieten down. Breakfast was ok. No difficulties here. Food was reasonable.

Hotel was clean and tidy. Check-in, check-out and restaurant staff were all very polite and friendly. Would definitely use this hotel again.

Checking in very good.Bedroom so hot like a sweat box shower ok bed comfy but only slept on top of it.Breakfast poor no eggs due to supplier not great quality the rest of it. Bar beers were horrible and I would pop to the nearest pub for better service. Staff very friendly but it is tired and need’s revamping.

Room recently renovated to a good standard everything you needed! Be prepared for loud music till midnight from the ballroom! Must have been a celebration on, on Saturday night not the best when you want an early night after a long journey!

I would suggest anyone coming to Darlington, stay here. It will save your time to travel the shopping as well as night life. Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious, only thing is a but confusing in lifts if you get rooms in 3rd floor.

Such promise but not lived up to

The underground parking is very tight, I suggest a contortionist drives. Stairs to get into the hotel from the car park which was fine for me but not for others. Check in was ok, less good was being told ‘I hope you’re fit, the lift isn’t working’. I think asked if they had room service and was greeted with a pained expression and the receptionist told me about a Wetherspoon round the corner. After navigating the labrynthine corridors of the hotel I found my room it was small and when I went to close the curtains I discovered part of the inner wall missing - a little worrying and not what you expect from a Mercure. I missed breakfast after discovering a complete absence of shampoo in the shower and having to use alternatives which is less than ideal as my scalp is sensitive. The room was ok overall the bed not great but it did a job.

Property itself was tired, although the room adequate. I was nervous in the area around the hotel - late-night revellers from the bar opposite, and no parking available without walking across the town.

Think before booking!

Had to change rooms as the first room wasn’t nice and so noisy as right opposite a busy pub and karaoke place! Staff were pleasant however the rooms are so hot so neither of us slept. The breakfast was really poor especially as one of us was gluten-free. Very little choice at all for them. Certainly not worth paying the money!

Terrible experience. Greeted on arrival by some guy in a checked shirt who was rude as hell. I felt like i had done wrong checking into a hotel i paid for. Room unclean it had not seen a hoover, rice on the floor still from previous accupent Brick dust on bathroom floor. Mold around window and in bathroom Stains on wall and ceiling Toilet roll holder broken and over all the room and hotel need a lot of TLC I CANT UPLOAD PICTURES FOR SOME REASON I WILL ON TRIP ADVISOR

Ok for the price. Bad mattress and humid in room

Friendly helpful staff, great centre location, adequate room. No ventilation so the bathroom made the room humid Extremely uncomfortable mattress. As others have said I can't see how this is a Mercure IE Hilton hotel. Very little parking so had to park at the Corn shopping centre parking that closes at 7pm so can't take the car out at night.
