The Old Hall was undergoing extensive renovation during our visit. The stairs were full of builders debris and work began in the room directly above us early - not ideal when holiday. The room was interesting and very traditional. Breakfast was excellent, the room beautiful, the menu varied and the staff extremely professional.

Thank you for your review and feedback, we appreciate your comments. The renovations are taking place at The Crescent next door, occasionally this has involved some work at The Old Hall, although this is limited. We apologise if this had an impact on your stay on this occasion.

Lovely building in a great location. Breakfast was really good with an extensive choice. Only thing which let it down was the condition of our bathroom which needed some TLC (mouldy silicone for example). Also noticed that one of the bathrobes had make up on it. Parking is a bit of an issue but didn’t ruin the stay. Otherwise a great hotel.

Great hotel in beautiful Buxton

Pros: The quaint room, the uneven floors, its history, the excellent breakfast.
Cons: It doesn't look as old inside as you'd imagine given the age of the hotel. The lounges could be made a bit more inviting/olde worlde, e.g. real fires?
Location: The High Peak Bookstore (formerly Bookstore Brierlow Bar) just outside Buxton is worth a visit and has a lovely café inside.
Great central location very near Buxton Opera House. We were given a free parking ticket which covered the whole time we were in Buxton which was appreciated. The breakfast was particularly good- very good quality food and a nice, calm, civilised atmosphere compared to the usual buffet style you tend to mainly get these days! The staff at breakfast were all very nice.

Lovely hotel

Really enjoyable stay at this historic hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great food. Lovely setting in the middle of Buxton overlooking the park. Ideal base for touring the peaks.
