Arrived late at night . Opened the door of the room and there was a strange smell and all the windows were open. Put on the lights and there were insects flying all over the room. Went to the bathroom where there was a water leak coming through the ceiling which on reflection was probably what the smell was as the water was all over the floor , and probably why the windows were open to get rid of the smell. On further inspection the room was filthy covered in what looked like builders dust which was even inside the wardrobe shelves. Went to reception to complain and after an hour was given another room and a free nights accommodation and a free meal. The manager insisted the room had been checked before our arrival….. perhaps they need to review that protocol. The general condition of the building is poor . Looking very tired and in need of an update.

Stayed here as a central place for going to the zoo. My other half was dubious from what it looked like from the outside. Well how wrong was he. We had a fab stay, staff were lovely, even better than in a few restaurants we've been too!! Food was really good. Room was excellent- really clean. The only thing was that the mattress was too soft. Wouldn't hesitate booking into a Holiday Inn again
