This was probably the absolute worst vrbo experience i’ve ever had. The property is being listed by a third party representative for a secondary letting agency. There was zero information given to me until I decided to reach out. When I did, I was told that I needed to send a large security deposit to this mystery letting agency. This was never advertised on the listing. With no other options, we were left with paying it as we only had 2 days notice before our trip. Upon arriving to the property, we were met with many signs posted around the main doors explaining that letting properties on vrbo, etc are illegal at these apartment complexes. But not to worry, getting into the property was fine, because none of the doors were locked! The other doors were either broken and therefore left open, or propped open. Getting to the apartment was a maze. As we walked around the complex, we were met with horrible smells, missing ceiling tiles, disturbing stains, hanging wires, and broken elevators. The apartment itself was fine.. it does look like the pictures. We did however feel extremely unsafe, given that the deadbolt on the door was broken. When we contacted the letting agency about our safety concerns, we were told that they were aware and “not to worry” about the questions of legality and safety. With no other hotels available on such short notice, we were left to stay there for the first night. Thankfully though, we were able to find room at a nearby hotel for the next night and could leave this awful vrbo. We have had to wait to submit this review due to the fact that we were unsure that the letting agency would return our security deposit. Point blank, if you’re looking at booking this property, do yourself a favour and look up the online forums for the Wallace St Apartments… it does a good job of outlining the drug use, brothels, and crime rate of these apartments. We will also be reporting all this to vrbo.
