I want to clarify, we have stayed in VRBO's for the past 5 months w/no issues until this. I have a chronic illness which requires daily therapies. We only book properties that have the amenities I need for them. After reviewing this property, it seemed to have checked all the boxes. Upon our arrival, we went to find the house rules sheet only to find a notebook of rules. After an hour of reading this, we became concerned. There are strict instructions not to unplug anything- many of my therapies need to be plugged in & I can't use any outlets? The coffee pot was not full-sized as described but a mini one. The air fryer had old food in it. The frig, freezer, & part of the pantry were dirty & mostly full of other peoples food. The couch was full of crumbs but per rules cannot be slept on. The bedroom closet was full of things so we had nowhere to store bags, therapy supplies, etc. The garage was completely off limits w/the exception of doing laundry & you must use the laundry detergent provided; I can only use a specific detergent because of my illness! There are cameras on the front door, above the garage, & in the enclosed back porch area, all of which are video & audio recording us without our knowledge; are there cameras throughout the house too? This was not listed in the property description. Bathroom drawers had trash & used toothbrushes in them. The bathtub had rust colored stains & dead bugs in it, we turned the water on & it smelled of strong metal & had an orange color to it! Only to discover the property is on unfiltered well water, which is a deal breaker for my illness. This was also not in the listing description. We reach out to the owners in hopes they would be understanding & work something out with us. Instead we were questioned if my health issues were factual, asked for documentation, & told me it was my responsibility to ask if there was well water. We offered to clean what few things we touched on our way out so they could mark it available right away. We were told there was a no refund policy & they would check to see if the water was treated & let us know the next day. We used the water once to brush our teeth that night -it tasted like blood! The next morning they refused our offer to pay for 2 days plus cleaning fee & decided themselves to send us a partial refund and told us to get out without including us in the decision. Then proceeded to ask us to cancel the booking! We lost some VRBO fees & mandatory insurance costs.
