The Neighborhood:
Notting Hill is one of London’s most exciting and vibrant areas. Packed full of restaurants and shops and home to the famous Portobello Market, you’re unlikely to get bored in this neighbourhood. Quirky backstreets and pretty gardens attract many to wander the streets of this beautiful part of London.
There are restaurants on Queensway and Westbourne Grove. Those on Queensway tend to be more touristy or fast-food. There a tons of good restaurants on Westbourne Grove. Granger on Westbourne Grove is particularly good. There is great sushi and Japanese at C&Z Izakaya on Westbourne Grove. Pomona on Hereford Road very near Westbourne Grove is good. It has lighter “California” style food. Masala Zone on the corner of Porchester Road and Westbourne Grove is a good Indian restaurant. The Shed on Kensington Church Street serves gorgeous food and there’s even a Michelin Star restaurant a few blocks away from the flat: The Ledbury.
For cafes, they are numerous. Daylsford Organic is popular. Daylsford is a cafe, restaurant, market and shop on Westbourne Grove too. Also on Westbourne Grove is 202 a breakfast, brunch spot. Also for breakfast / brunch there’s The Electric Diner on Portobello Road or Egg Break near Notting Hill Gate. My personal favourite coffee is at Pedlars at 128 Talbot Road. The coffee is very smooth and mellow and Pedlars is a very cool spot. The nearest Starbucks is on Queensway.
There are many great pubs near us. We usually go to The Bonaparte. It's a 2 minute walk. Or you might choose The Westbourne Pub or The Cow which are also 2 minutes walk from the flat. The Walmer Castle, Ladbroke Arms and Churchill Arms are also always very good – there is no shortage of great pubs in the neighbourhood that’s for sure!
Getting Around:
Royal Oak is the nearest station to the property, just a 3 minute walk away. You can board the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines, which means you can get to iconic main attractions in no time: Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge or St Paul’s in under 30 mins or King’s Cross in 20 mins.
Queensway and Bayswater tube stations are a 7-8 minute walk away and the Notting Hill tube station is a 12 minute walk.
Transport to Heathrow could not be easier: take the Heathrow Express to Paddington station and walk 15 minutes to the flat or take the Hammersmith/Circle tube line 1 stop to Royal Oak and walk 3 minutes to the flat. If you fly in-out of Gatwick, you can take the number 36 bus or the Circle Line to Victoria station and catch the Gatwick express.
The flat is in walking distance to Portobello Market, Notting Hill Gate, Holland Park, Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, Kensington Palace, Kensington Church Street, Kensington High Street, Paddington and Little Venice. I have even walked to Oxford street and South Kensington. The neighbourhood is brilliant for discovering on foot.
Of course you could always use Uber, Addison Lee, Lyft or Gett to move around too.
I hope you have a lovely time!
