It is worth noting that we had mobility issues, requiring a walker, and the Alexandra provided a wonderful accommodation to meet our needs. The room (in particular the bathroom, with grab bars and a roll-in shower), the lobby, the dining areas, and the hotel in general were all easily accessible (despite the the hotel apparently having been built long before these things were considered important). The minor exceptions were that the room was a long ways from the elevator, with a couple of doors that were a tad awkward to open, and the hotel entrance with a ramp, i.e no steps, was around the side and through the restaurant. Minor, but worth noting. The hotel was an easy walk to downtown Fort William, and easily accessible to the train station and grocery store. The room was comfortable, and large enough to move around in easily. Dinner was wonderful and charming, and the provided breakfast had a large selection of foods in a well conceived dining area (we were able to get in, get our food, and put the walker so it was out of the way). Parking initially seemed a bit of an issue, but the staff actually guided us to park right by the front door. Regardless of whether it was an “official” parking space, they gave their blessing to leave the car there. We would happily recommend the Alexandra to any one visiting the area, including folks with mobility issues.

The bar area was very uninviting. No one was allowed to check in until 3. When that arrived it was very busy as everyone was waiting in the foyer.

Very convenient location and staff were friendly. Building interior was a bit drab and out dated but clean and tidy. Buffet breakfast had lots of variety. Overall a good experienc.

Very good choice at breakfast. Room very basic paper pealing of ceiling and too warm and stuffy with unpleasant view. A bit of a maze with floorboards on corridors slack and noisy and corridors very warm and stuffy. I can only comment on my room as I’m sure there will be much better quality of rooms than mine hopefully. I thought for the quality of my room and hotel in general it was not value for money and vastly overpriced. To say it was dated would be an understatement. Would not return. Sorry

Location wise this hotel is in a good location. However, one of the rooms we booked had a broken window due to which the room was very cold and there was no heater/working radiator. When we mentioned that to the receptionist, they didn't even apologise instead they said why didn't you tell us before? They were supposed to prepare the room and ensure it was suitable for guests. They also didn't replace the dirty towel. Hence, not a good experience.

Hotel looks great from outside, lobby and dining area look great. The bedroom was disappointing. Out dated with stained worn out carpet. The bathroom leaves a lot to be desired. Decor was stuck in the 70’s. The bed was hard and uncomfortable. I slept well only because I was very tired. The location was good and the shops were easy to get to. Breakfast was good and the dining area was smart.

Staff were friendly and service was excellent. Dinner was good. Breakfast was average. Bed was comfy with a good mattress. Great to have a bath in the bathroom. Decor was ok, maybe a little tired in places. Overall a good stay.

Room 315 had kitchen extracting trunking by the window which gave an irritating noise which meant we could not have the window open there appears to be a pigeon roosting there also making various annoying noises pecking the window etc - we were disappointed to not find a clock in the room ! Staff were very polite & helpful
