I would never recommend this hotel, in terms of the hotel and breakfast I can say it was excellent what ruins our experience was finding that out the bedding in our room was full of dried blood and had not been changed once we brought it up with management they tried saying it was paint, once I showed it was blood they said they would investigate they then went on to gaslight os saying we must have caused the blood even though we showed the manager on the night we reported it that it couldn’t have come from us as we had no cuts on any of our legs. It’s absolutely disgusting to think that we slept the first night in sheets covered in someone else’s blood. We didn’t expect compensation as the rest of our experience was great. All we expected was an apology instead we got gas lot and blamed. Would totally avoid the place.
Loved the size of the family room - 4 friends going to theatre which is 5 minutes away.
Beds very comfortable but very high !
Very pleasant French man (think he was French, couldn’t have been nicer thank you.
Only thing we would say would be better to have armchairs in room instead of chaise longues as they were too low for women of a certain age to sit on and get back up again!
Tried to sit in bed but they were very high !
This is my second time in this hotel and certainly won’t be last.
Thank you - Jean
The property is good overall and is in quite a good central location. The staff were all welcoming and helpful. Breakfast is nice and the dining room set up for breakfast is great. With all contenental breakfast there for you to choose what you want then a separate menu for hot food which the staff bring out.
The issues I had with the property were that the bed was like a brick and I kept waking up with hip pain. The staff did not have any solution to the problem so I asked for an extra quilt to out on the mattress. We arrived back in our room after being out for the morning and the bed was made so I assumed someone had been in and put the quilt in the bed. However shortly later someon knocked on the door and handed us a quilt so we had to remake the bed ourself.
The room we were in was spacious and had a bath and a shower in the bathroom but the bath was not for for purpose as the seal on the plug didn't work and the water kept draining out whilst you were sat in it.
We also travelled with toddler and asked for a travel cot in the room. The cot was there and put up but also wants for for purpose because it was a wooden slab with a sheet on. No pillows, no blankets no mattress. So our son was in bed with us for the 3 night stay.
Would expect the basics like the bed and the bath to be fit for purpose in a 4 star property.

Liked: Staff & service
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Nice room but expensive- the windows & sills- frames needed cleaning &
Neither of the mirror light nor heated towel rail worked- both reported but were not fixed but new towels issued as they were not drying
Who thought it would be a good idea to locate two Indigo Hotels on the same block in the same city? Not impressed as our satellite naviaigation took us to the other one… then had to walk over ice to get to the correct hotel. When we arrived we were given instructions on what could be pest be described as a maze of corridors inside the hotel. Would have expected at least an offer to escort me up through the building.
The hotel is located centrally, close to the bus stops and shops.
10-12 mins walk to old town, prince street and others.
However the condition of the property is not great, the walls have dirt marks, ceilings are peeling, chairs and carpets have permanent stains. The property needs a renovation.
The hotel is manageably clean, however I had to remind staff I need a thorough clean on D2/D3.
Breakfast is lovely. Nice and warm.
Staff were friendly.
Fantastic location, really friendly staff, comfortable bed and nice decor.
I had a voucher which meant this stay was particularly good value. I might have felt it was slightly expensive without the discount, but realise there is an element of paying for the location (which really is one of the best places to stay in Edinburgh in my experience).
Minor quibbles, the TV didn't work consistently (i'm sure staff would have tried to sort this if i'd have asked). And there was some quite bad water damage in the room presumably from a previous roof leak. It was a shame because in other respects the look and feel of the room was great!
Nice touch with free mini bar water/Iron Bru and snacks.
