Cold, dirty, run down. I liked the quirkinesses but the facilities were poor. The shower was mouldy and there were cobwebs in most of the corners. I appreciate the ‘industrial’ vibe, which is part of its quirky charm, but the basics of hygiene and comfort still need to be observed. The bed was INCREDIBLY uncomfortable, basically a very cheap mattress on a wooden platform. I attended a conference in the cellars, and the noise from overhead made it impossible to hear the speakers at times. Although it was convenient for the conference, the lack of food (there’s nothing!), comfort and cleanliness meant that I wished I had stayed at the Premier Inn nearby.

What would Lowry have thought?

Pros: The reuse of the Victorian Warehouse
Cons: breakfast
Location: extremely handy for Salford Quays and Old Trafford. Handy to visit my old stomping grounds of my youth.
Well he would have seen a Victorian brick built Industrial Warehouse that had morphed into the 21 Century. The internal Industrial look gives a nice twist to the outside façade. It is a common theme throughout the Manchester scene that allows the Industrial heritage to be reworked into todays usage. Transmission of sound between rooms could be an issue. The Mattress was basic. Felt like I was on the set of Crystal Maze at times. But I did like this concept of reworking the architecture of yesteryear. Location was very good with the Quays attractions close to hand. The staff were polite and helpful. The Grab Bag breakfast seemed to be off message. The ground floor image was of peace , healthy lifestyle, Yoga Room etc. So the Blueberry muffin and sweet fruit drinks plus bars were worthy of pushing you into Type 11 diabetes's. Seemed to be off message. Overall I liked it and would stay again but drop the sugar rush breakfast. I think Lowry would have enjoyed.

quirky but not comfortable

Pros: quirky set up and bar prices
Cons: car parking , air con in rooms and a cooked breakfast
Location: stayed there as the weeding was there, but locally you have MUFC ground , lowry outlet and Traffoed centre
booked hotel as our niece was getting married there. arrved to be told car park was closed due to an event over the weekend, wedding was on Friday. after a bit of a heated discussion with security he relented and let us in . the room was small with no window (we knew about no window). acces to bathroom is limited in a twin bed the door only opens a quarter before hitting the bed. even though this was October the room was warm during night with no air con. during the evening reception my dad was unwell so my daughter offered to take him home in my car, after the trouble we had earlier I went to have a wordwith security. which had changed this guard was a proper jobsworth who liked to show his alleged authority,by telling us if we left site we would not be allowed back on. after he tried to have the last word several times, I asked to see his boss, when he arrived his attitude changed, and we was told we would be allowed back on site, the hotel is advertised with car parking, but when they have another event on this is closed , with no other arrangements. and you don't find out till you arrive on the plus side staff were friendly and bar prices reasonable although bar could do with draught bitter, but that's me. overall would not recommend.

Could be improved

The idea is ok but rooms are too basic, no table or chairs in the room, no temperature control, crap internet

Cheapest in town that weekend

Short tram ride from town or 10-12 quid in a black cab at night. Seemed nice hotel, different but in a good way. Very expensive bar
