Property did not communicate that they were closing during our stay. Found out that from other guests and had to go ask about it. Only one dining option multiple evenings. Only one bar multiple days. Severely understaffed. They should have notified us in advance and given us the option to change our booking to their sister property-which we were moved to. Totally shady way of doing business.

The room and food were good. The service was good minus an issue with dinner reservations that was resolved. The water was calm and clear. The beach has substantially eroded.

We’ve stayed at bigger resorts and this was one of the smaller ones we’ve visited. You really wouldn’t have known it. We felt safe in a very relaxing environment, Concierge service was excellent!

We totally enjoyed our stay. The property was beautiful, the rooms were great, and staff bent over backwards for you. There were some issues the last day and a half. There was little to no communication about it, so it could have been handled in the best possible manner, but I don't know. Something broke in the water system very early Wednesday morning and there was no running water until evening, and then only cold until we left on Thursday. They also seemed short staffed and short on water bottles Thursday, so I don't know what happened.

Bars close too early, pools close too early. Not keeping up with the upkeep of property. A/C leaked in the bathroom of 2 different rooms. Food and drinks not available 24 hrs a day, outside of paid room service.

The rooms are large and clean, and the housekeeping staff is amazing at making sure everything is stocked. Giovanni and Jesus were the perfect entertainment for the week, always engaging and friendly. The food is decent at the buffets, but always delicious in the restaurants. Due to a hurricane, the beach is not as large as it once was, but the water is still clear and optimal for snorkeling.

It's been 7 years since I went back to this resort The last time I went, it was great but a lot has changed For instance, when we checked in, we all got a bracelet from the resort so they knew that you were a guest there It was a black string with a little metal plate that said the resort's name and a piece of plastic holding it together, that could easily come off and get lost. That would be another charge, especially for guests with children. Then we got to our room The room was hot and there was no fridge They had all the beverages on top of the dresser, and when we visited previous times, they had them in the fridge cold. Then we made our way to the lunch buffet The food that was supposed to be cold was hot and there were flies all around the food after seeing that we didn't have much of an appetite. The pools were dirty; guests who would go swimming on the beach would come in the pool with sand all over them to rinse off and would take in their shoes as well since there were no showers to wash off the sand, which did not help the situation with the pool. When we checked in, they gave us a card for towels but failed to let us know that towels were given between 8 and 5, so we did not have any towels that first day. On the second day, we decided to go into town for some souvenirs, needed to get a taxi and exchange some American money for some Mexican money The lady in the reception area wanted us to pay more for Mexican money. Overall, I would think twice about coming here

We did not go. We cancelled our stay because of hurricane damage. They did not notify us and we only found out because our friends flight was cancelled. The hotel did not inform us there was a problem and we are still trying to get a refund as they approved our cancellation on July 17th. This would have been our 4th stay with occidental. Very disappointing because we have had wonderful experiences here previously.

Place was wonderful and clean!. We felt very safe and welcomed! I wish there was big fans in the common areas to ventilate the area! Spa was on point. Night shows were great! Everyone was interacting. I would like to thank REYNA and CARLA at the bar they were FANTASTIC. Had GREAT conversations with them. Would recommend this place. I am extremely satisfied with my stay!!
