The Grand was beautiful, a grand hotel indeed. For the price we paid, a movie channel would’ve been good. The aircon was rattling all night also which kept us up but the bed was big and comfortable and customer service was lovely. Christmas decorations and interior was really welcoming and cosy.

Great place would definitely stop there again. Food and drink prices are on the high side, but to be expected from such a lovely place. Staff where great,and it’s the first quite hotel room I’ve had in a while 👍

I expected more from a five-star hotel like the Grand. On the day we checked out, I realized I had forgotten my expensive electric toothbrush in the room but decided to wait until the next morning to call, understanding it was a busy time (during Christmas). To my frustration, the staff claimed they couldn’t find it, and I was disappointed that they didn’t call immediately after the room was cleaned to inform me if anything had been left behind. For a luxury establishment, this lack of care and proactive communication is unacceptable. Guests trust hotels to handle such situations professionally, and it’s disappointing that basic standards were not met. Although I really enjoyed other aspects of our stay, this incident completely ruined my experience with the Grand. I hope they take such matters more seriously in the future.

Christmas in York

Our second stay here in as many weeks, this time for a Christmas away. Once again the staff and service was top class and the food was absolutely amazing. Some of the staff even remembered us from our previous visit. Special mention for Katie on reception who made sure we had the room we really wanted and Dan who was so helpful with his drink recommendations in the Rise Restaurant. The Christmas lunch was fantastic, and praise indeed for the Rise executive chef, the team in the kitchen, the waiting staff and the lady who was managing the pass for working so hard to make sure everyone got fed. I am sure we will be back again.

Great Service, Great Location

Great weekend. Service was gold standard, staff made us feel welcome and special. Used the valet service for parking and found it the perfect t option for us especially as it was so busy in York due to the Xmas markets. Already booked again for Christmas.
