The house was nice and we enjoyed our 2-week stay, overall, but things were most definitely not up to snuff. We had a few issues, with appliances, etc, that were very disappointing. Apparently there had been a long-term renter in the house for 3 months--who left the morning of our arrival--and there had not been time for the agency to thoroughly check things over before our check-in at 9pm.
The oven did not work, which we discovered as we were trying to do some baking on Christmas Eve. Pizzas, flatbreads, and dinner rolls were attempted--and ruined--so they mostly ended up in the garbage. The back-up plan was to use the outdoor grill to cook, but there was no gas in the tank and nowhere to get a tank on Christmas Eve. Supper for the 6 of us was then sandwiches. On Christmas Day, we had to do all of our cooking on the stovetop and in a crockpot. We got by and a new oven WAS delivered on December 29th, but it was already one week into our 2-week stay. The refrigerator worked fine, but it's built-in ice maker did not; the coffeemaker needed to be unplugged and reset every time a pot was brewed. Lack of lighting throughout the house and lanai and lots of burned out lightbulbs made for a dark, hotel room like atmosphere. Also, to use the TVs in the bedrooms required you to set-up/login to your own Hulu/Netflix/Prime accounts. We were able to get 1 of the 3 bedroom TVs to work properly during our stay. And then, the toilet that ran and ran and ran unless the handle was yanked up each time after flushing...
No compensation was offered for our inconveniences or simply the cost of our Christmas Eve dinner that had to be thrown out. The rental agreement basically says, "Something wrong? Let us know." But also, "Oh well, too bad--we don't give any refunds." So, if you're considering a rental, just beware. Besides the rent, you may also end up with added costs and disappointments you'll just have to live with.
