Camilo was a gracious manager. I arrived early and he allowed my party to check out luggage while we walked around the area. He called me when our room was available and allowed us to check in early.

The hotel I originally booked was so poorly I had to find another place to stay. Luckly the Avalon had vacancies and only a few dollars more a night that the previous nightmare. Booking was a breeze and the staff at both the hotel and the restaurant were so unbelievably kind and accommodating if I ever come back to Miami I will be staying at the Avalon. The location is great. Right across from the beach, restaurants galore! The Restaurant A fish Named Avalon was unbelievable. Pricey but again the service and the food was well worth the money spent. I can not recommend the Avalon more.

Excellent historical hotel on the beach. Transported back to the 50’s. Awesome location great staff. Dated interior hard to bring into the 2020’s. Not sure I would want to.

The Avalon Hotel was a good choice for our 3 night warm getaway from the winter. Comparing similar options, this was likely a great option. There was self-serve coffee in the mornings which we appreciated. A few things I noticed that I wish were different: sound - In the mornings and evenings we could hear every door on our floor shut (the door closing sound is loud). This is not make/break on its own, of course. Second, with check in at 4 and check out at 11, you might expect your room to be serviced sometime between 11-3, right? On our first full day, I called the front desk because our room was not serviced until after 4PM. By this time, we were back in the room getting ready for dinner so when the attendants knocked on the door, we asked them for clean towels. They proceeded to clean around me while I sat on the bed. I'm a down to earth person so I could deal with that. It is a little odd when they do this without asking or speaking to me at all. On our second full day, after being out all day and hoping to return to a refreshed room, our room was not visited at all. The room itself didn't really need much attention but the towels do need to be replaced daily. The rooms/climate are humid enough that they don't dry quickly so this part of the service. On our way out, I spoke to the front desk and requested a visit. They did not have an explanation and offered to give me towels themselves. On our way back from dinner, I collected them. Overall, we may or may not stay again.

Avalon is an iconic hotel however, in-room amenities do not have even basic upgrades to bring it up to speed. Washroom tubs and faucets / closet / etc. need a lot of work to live up to its reputation !! Sad indeed !! The dining experience is poor with nothing to offer during the day. Even the breakfast offerings - the only meal of the day - was very poor and lacking basic continental breakfast standards; and keep in mind this was at full charge - not complimentary !!.
