The Good (and why I would stay again)
- The lady on the desk (Joyce?) was understanding and did her best to help me, eventually upgrading my room as the one I originally wanted was not available. The new mezonet was fantastic: high ceilings, a balcony, stylish glass dining table, en-suite shower room, large, equipped kitchen area. Just wonderful.
The Bad
- When I got to my 'mezonet twin', I was disappointed to find it was nothing like the photos featured on Hotels.com (I'm a photographer/videographer so scenery matters a great deal as I intended to shoot in the room). The room was much much smaller, a little dirty (large water stains and chipped/peeling paint on the wall under the window, a large stain on the sofa), and the sleeping area upstairs was low enough that I could only crawl into the bed.
- There unfortunately was a fire alarm around 4.30am the following morning and there were no staff on site to attend to it. We guests congregated together in the foyer, on the phone to one of the hotel staff members, with myself running to all the checkpoints on each floor to find the source of the alarm, and trying to reset the alarm panel ourselves, to no avail. This went on for a good hour or more, with nobody arriving to attend to it.
Note
I saw complaints expressing surprise at rooms with shared facilities. The room descriptions clearly state this &facilities are pristine. The negative reviews are unfair.
