A basic hotel but that is what we paid for. A solid option with very friendly and helpful staff. The steep steps into the bathroom are not for the faint hearted and the walls are very thin! But a good option if on a budget. Excellent location

California Hotel was a disappointing experience. The bedroom was small. The bathroom was small. The fixtures were of poor quality. There weren't any hand towels and the bath towels (one per person) were very small. There were very few complimentary items such as soap (which was out of reach if you were to take a bath) and coffee. The pillows were hard. The room was extraordinarily hot. In the bathroom, both sink and bath plugs were damaged. The bath was very small. There was limited shelving. The space for the toilet was very tight. Noise from other rooms was too easily heard, as was the noise from the cleaning staff talking loudly in the morning. To say this is a 2 star hotel would be a generous assessment. Positives were: Pleasant receptionists and reception area. Location.

Buyer beware. Photos do not show how small the rooms really are. A family room barely has room to walk. There is no lift. Don’t plan on bringing luggage. The room has no ventilation.

Room was clean and well equipped. Bathroom was lovely. Plenty of space for a family of 4. One double bed in a room divided from the living area which was great as we travelled with older teenagers. Lounge area had a double sofa bed and a single sofa bed which was great for us. Difficult to open the window so the fire alarm went off from steam from the shower. The extractor fan wasn't strong enough to clear it. Also very hot but a fan was provided which helped at night. Nice bar area. Friendly staff. Close to the station and plenty of places to eat.

I stayed here for one night between arriving at LHR and taking the train to Paris. This is the best location for the best price near St Pancras. Highly recommend, the room was very clean and cozy, everyone at the property was lovely and there’s a tube entrance right at the end of the street that takes you directly to Kings Cross/St Pancras. I’ll absolutely stay here again.

The room was spacious; the location was perfect - across the road from kings cross starion; it was clean and modern; they had a bar that was open til early hours and staff on shift 24/7. Id definitely return.

The room lacked basic amenities, such as hand towels, washcloths, a mini-fridge, and a microwave. I stored my luggage under the bed, and when I pulled it out, it was coated in dust and dirt. The mattresses are clearly cheap and well-used. Overall, the hotel was adequate, but I wouldn't recommend it and wouldn't return.
