Local Area
The Drumsheugh Gardens apartment is ideally located a walking distance away from the Princes Street - the main shopping area of the city. The apartment is wonderfully located just a walking distance away from all major city attractions, including the Castle, Scott Monument, Royal Mile and Holyrood Palace.
Nearby are all the galleries and museums, which are free entry (except for special seasonal exhibitions) - especially interesting is the Scottish National Portrait Gallery on Queen Street. A funky place to have a bite to eat and enjoy a cocktail or few is the Canoe Tiki Den, on Melville Place. With quirky dishes, such as Belgian waffles with bacon, eggs and maple syrup, inventive cocktails and great staff this is definitely a place to go for dinner. Also, not too far away on Rose Street, is one of the oldest pubs in Edinburgh - The Auld Hundred, originally built in 18th century. Definitely worth a visit and a pint.
Edinburgh has something for everyone. Kids will love the outstanding Edinburgh Zoo, Edinburgh Castle, the Wax Museum or perhaps a ghost tour round the cobbled streets and closes of the historic old town. For lovers of culture there are many museums, galleries and theatres to be visited and during the month of August the city welcomes visitors from all over the world for the Edinburgh Festival and associated Fringe Festival. Guests can easily explore Edinburgh on foot, from the medieval old town with its many historic buildings of interest, to the New Town.
From Princes Street you will have the ideal bus links both back to airport or for the sights just outside the city, such as Queensferry Bridge, Cramond Island and Portobello beach, just to name a few.
