Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Unfortunately, this is a typical example of an all inclusive hotel with a ‘pile it high and sell it cheap’ ethos.
We did however enjoy our seven days stay at the RIU Dubai, mainly due to the exceptional staff. Every member of staff we encountered in the reception area and bar/restaurant staff were incredible with a high level of customer care.
Special mention to Khuin and Pem working with The Palm and The Moon restaurants - these two members of staff went above and beyond - they are a credit to the RIU Hotel chain and epitomise the high standard of staff training.
Our room was cleaned to a high standard and indeed the communal areas have a high level of cleanliness.
We found the food to be delicious, fresh and flavoursome in all of the restaurants - particularly enjoying the Lebanese cuisine at The Moon.
This is a four star hotel and it’s certainly a four-star standard, nothing more.
The entertainment is very Butlins in style and all of the communal areas, including restaurants are soulless and lack imaginative decor and opulence.
The main restaurant is huge and resembles a soulless canteen.
Our main distain with the Hotel was the fact that you could’ve been on a beach anywhere in the world; it did not showcase the beauty of Dubai. I would recommend staying in a city centre hotel.
The building itself is north facing to the shore of the estuary and therefore is not ideal for sun worshippers as you lose the sun around 4 pm.
