Riding Farm
The location is first-class, apparently in the 'middle of nowhere', yet within a short journey of all the usual facilities. It's great for Beamish and the Tanfield Railway, which are very close by and not too far from Locomotion at Shildon. I ventured as far as the South Tynedale Railway, and enjoyable drive over the moors. The accommodation is to a very high standard and unlike B&B has the advantage of coming and going as you please. It's a working farm, though not noisy at all. The property manager lives across the yard, so any problems (not that I had any) are easily resolved. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in restful surroundings.

Enjoyable stay
Very well equipped accommodation. Great base for exploring the area. Beamish museum very close and well worth a visit. Also close enough to visit Newcastle, can get metro so don't have to drive in, Hadrians wall, Derwent water. Lot of places to visit. Good location if doing Great North Run.

Lovely stay
This review relates to Riding Cottage from the same hosts, same location. Very clean and well equipped cottage. Lovely surroundings and easy to get to the local points of interest. Cake on arrival is always a good thing! We really appreciated the recycling system in place for waste, including food waste

Lovely country location
Wanted a place close to Beamish museum and one of the museums on along Hadrian's wall. Didn't realize from the listing that it was on a working farm, my bad, but very quiet and peaceful. Unit was exactly as listed, including a welcome cake baked by Louise. Short drive to full-size Sainsbury grocery store. Highly recommend dinner at the Ravensworth Arms,

Lovely property in beautiful countryside but near to places to visit ....
Easy to book. Communication with VRBO and owner was excellent. On arrival, Owner Louise greeted us. We were only 2 adults plus our dog but she had upgraded us at no extra cost to a property for 4. A newly baked ( still hot!) cake was waiting for us plus lots of beverages. The cottage was very well equipped. Eg lots of crockery, glasses and cutlery, not just a bare amount. The same goes for cooking equipment. Dishwasher tablets, washing machine tablets washing up liquid, bin bags etc all provided. and in quantity. This is not always the case at some properties. The cottage was spotlessly clean. Large fluffy towels which were even monogrammed with the name of the property as were the quilt covers. Lots of videos and games. Lots of information on local amenities and places of interest to visit. A perfect place for a break in the North East. Thank you.

Green attitude
a great location for nature lovers. If you prefer a more urban way of life with full of amenities, it is not really convenient. Nonetheless not far away from Newcastle.A really warmful welcome, with a home-made sponge cake in the loft, we did appreciate the mindfulness of the owner. Well, in a nutschell, an excellent accommodation!
