Excellent experience. It’s a beautiful hotel, dating back to over 250 years ago. The grounds and everything about it are simply stunning. The breakfast was just about as good as English breakfast can get! Staff were class, parking was easy. That being said, keeping the age of the hotel in mind, my room had little sound barrier between it and the adjoining rooms - I felt each night that the man in the next room snoring was in my bed. As well, no two rooms are the same which I thought was brilliant, mine most likely being a servants’ quarters or something of that nature. If you are exceptionally tall, some rooms may be difficult for you to stand in - for me it was the loo. All in all - excellent.

A warm welcome on arrival for us and our dog, thank you. The room was comfortable and spacious and breakfast was delicious. It a lovely character property but that comes with a few quirks (I know I live in a 300 yr old house). We managed to close the sash window in the bathroom and wedge it closed for the night, I was surprised it was open then realised it wasn’t intentional. We had a great night, thank you

Lots of character, largish room, comfortable bed, good breakfast, friendly staff, lovely big fluffy towels. Room a bit cold, plug allowed water to run out of basin.

Nice stay but a couple of issues
The hotel was beautiful, the staff very friendly. My room was immaculate and nicely decorated The food was not great as mass produced this including a function evening meal and breakfast There is no lighting from the car park to the hotel and I found it difficult to see the path in the dark The drinks are very expensive at the bar … almost £10 for a glass of wine

There was a charge for parking but it wasn't made clear on the hotels web site. No food was available in the evening the day we stood but we hadn't been given prior notification of this. The bed moved away from the head board when lying in bed propped up against the headboard.

A lovely traditional hotel around a 10 minute walk from the centre. Plenty of variety for breakfast and the cooked breakfast was good. I thought the bar area was outdated and needed some new furniture and tlc. Found myself being woken up at 2am with banging water pipes. Also if you intend to have a bath make sure to take your own body wash because the one provided is fixed halfway up the wall . Overall a pleasant and comfortable stay

Staying as a single guest
I had a single room and, as usual, for most single travellers, it was tucked away as an afterthought. I understand that the integrity of the building needs to be maintained but there was a massive crack in the upper pane of the window in the bedroom and a gap between the sashes that let in blasts of cold air. The window in the bedroom also had a gap between sashes that I could put my hand through and it didn't seem possible to close the windows. There was also a very large crack in the bathroom sink. I know everyone is economising but one sachet of caffeinated coffee in the room - seriously. I loved the hotel and the position but wouldn't want to stay again if being a solo traveller felt like being a second. Lass citizen. The reception staff were very friendly & helpful. Thank you

Love the Swan. Great breakfast. Cosy bar. Staff are helpful and it has a nice atmosphere. The rooms are a bit old now though. The single room in particular was pretty tiny and dark, as the windows were small. The other issue is they turn the heating off fairly often. My room was really cold after midnight and during the day. Apparently you can request a heater but no one told me this. A friend told me after. Would be good to know as it's an old building so it gets chilly. It seems to be cutting corners elsewhere. The the bathroom shampoo, soap etc is all from refillable dispensers (no conditioner, and shampoo and shower gel are one thing). Bit disappointing. It's in a perfect location to explore Harrogate. Definitely a nice place to stay.

Great area for shopping in Harrogate yet very quiet. We stayed in a suite and it was marvellous. Breakfast could have been better, a couple of us felt the need of an extra toasting machine.
