Excellent experience. It’s a beautiful hotel, dating back to over 250 years ago. The grounds and everything about it are simply stunning. The breakfast was just about as good as English breakfast can get! Staff were class, parking was easy.
That being said, keeping the age of the hotel in mind, my room had little sound barrier between it and the adjoining rooms - I felt each night that the man in the next room snoring was in my bed. As well, no two rooms are the same which I thought was brilliant, mine most likely being a servants’ quarters or something of that nature. If you are exceptionally tall, some rooms may be difficult for you to stand in - for me it was the loo.
All in all - excellent.
