Excellent staff very helpful hotel lovely clean warm and comfortable parking however a nightmare not much the hotel can do with limited space there is parking elsewhere which was a hassle but eventually got parked at hotel with help of young lad on reception. Meal in the restaraunt was beautiful highly recommend it.

Cold shower

We love Harrogate and have stayed many times this was our first visit too the crown hotel it was what we’d expect from a very old building the Churchill restaurant was lovely and the reception room was nice and roomy our room was dated and basic but adequate for our needs however the shower and bath were dreadful as the shower didn’t get hot it was only aired then ran cold also the bath water wasn’t hot but the sink water was hotter for some strange reason anyway we reported it and we’re told that maintenance would look at it the next day however the shower was no different on our second evening so not a very good break as a hot shower should be high on a hotel priority list

A lovely well-maintained hotel with lots of character, close to Betty's and the Turkish baths. We didn't manage to get parking on site but parked about two minutes away which was ok. Soundproofing not the best but had a comfortable two nights nonetheless. Would come again!

The entrance and lounge area are impressive and have a grand feel to it. The reception staff were all very helpful and friendly and checking in was easy. We had booked a double room which was on the second floor at the front of the hotel. We found the room to be quite noisy as it faced the road outside. Also there was a beer delivery in the early hours so that disturbed our sleep. The room was clean and comfortable and was sufficient for our 1 night stay. Hairdryer, tea/coffee and toiletries were in the room. Bed was comfy however the pillows were quite firm. The room was a bit tired but cleanliness was the most important thing for us and it was clean. Very convenient location being just a short stroll into the centre. We would stay here again but we’d ask for a room away from the front of the hotel.

A perfect historic base

Great old style hotel. Wonderful breakfast rooms, welcoming with amazing Christmas decorations. Large comfortable room, seating area , large shower all spotlessly clean. Would stay again

Fantastic and will return

Fantastic hotel and perfect location. Big thanks to Phoebe for helping to facilitate our return. The breakfast was good quality with excellent service. Our room was clean, tidy and spacious. The bed was very comfortable. A little surprised that there was no bottled water in the room as majority of hotels offer this as a minimal, however I still rate the hotel five star overall. Will defiantly be returning.

Tired and drab Hotel

This is a tired hotel, that is in need of some general maintenance and modification, the foyer is very nice and welcoming, but beyond that things start to slide downhill rapidly, the lighting in the room was dull and didn't give a welcoming feel to the room at all, there were very few plug sockets in the room to the point you had to choose between fridge or kettle as both couldn't be used at the same time, no plug sockets either side of the bed, one of the plug sockets on the wall was loose so didn't use that, mould spots in the sealant around the bath. The complimentary beverages provided seemed to be limited to 2 standard coffees 2 decaf coffees and 2 standard tea bags and 2 flavoured teas. 4 white sugar 4 brown sugar and 4 sweeteners,and milk no bottled water. On the stairwell up to the first floor there was a piece of chewing gum trodden into the carpet and remained there for the duration of our stay. Parking is limited and charged didn't see any priority disabled parking. There is parking off site if your lucky enough to find a space in the Montpellier car park it cost us £13.20 per 24 hour and is only a short distance from the hotel. Lovely staff, not a lot of parking but right in the centre of Harrogate. Our room 351 needs some updating but it was spotless, had lovely fuffy towels and a comfy bed. Very squeaky floor boards! The food was very nice. We will use it again.
