Nice location near the beach. The hotel has seen best days decades ago. Dirty and window frames rotten. Low fare stay.

Awful…pictures of the room must be another hotel. Superior room is very very questionable. Stains on the bed sheets, towels not clean, toilet covered in dried dusty urine stains. Hair in the bath, cupboard with rot in the bottom. Paid for 2 nights of parking but only got one night, asked for a refund for the 2nd night and then we were told it’s on a first come first park even though they took our money. Exceptionally let down by this stay and very surprised hotels.com allows this hotel on its website. Best thing about this stay was walking away

Midweek break

Comfortable bed & armchairs. Carpet not very clean & wood work tatty. We had a lovely seaview but the room was almost unbearably hot even with the supplied fan, maybe the bigger rooms are more airy. All staff very good & helpful with charging my husband's mobility scooter. Breakfast buffet plentiful wouldn't have minded a change from scrambled eggs though. Coffee was excellent.

Great position and added bonus of payable car park behind the hotel. Bar, restaurant and reception staff were excellent. Cleaners not so good and rooms in need of a good deep clean. A Victorian hotel so quite quirky. Breakfast adequate and reasonable prices at the bar. Would be happy to return there.

Good hotel.

Our rooms are usually very good. This one we stayed in this time not as good. The carpet was dirty, small beds but ok. The bathroom a bit cramped. Apart from carpet room was mostly clean. As always the staff good and very nice breakfast.

Staff friendly the two lads on the blue bar absolutely spot on 👌reception team very polite and welcoming The badish points are the bathroom needed attention sloping floor and just really tired decor Apart from that we had a lovely time thank you 🙏

The only thing I did not like was that they did not have any full cream milk, it was all semi-skimmed. Location was great, almost right opposite the pier. This was my 3rd/4th visit, so that is surely a good recommendation.

What’s not to like

Excellent hotel, good location, friendly staff. Some parts a little tired, but no different to many of the hotels along the front. They are all large Victorian buildings. It was everything we expected and we weren’t disappointed. It would have been nice if reception could have alerted us before we arrived that there are extensive roadworks going on in front and to the side of the hotel. This meant that we had difficulty locating the car park which is to the rear of the hotel. The only access was down a one way street driving in the wrong direction! Ok if you know the other end is blocked, but this was our first time.

Staff were friendly and welcoming I was only there for 1 night and booked a single room which in today’s market even if you are single you do tend get a larger bed. The room was dated. The lifts worked efficiently but one was tiny and didn’t look particularly clean. You may want to consider telling the night staff that they should know the names and telephone numbers of local taxi services at the very least or install a phone which is purely for taxis I have friends moving to Eastbourne and will be returning frequently and would like to think some of my comments will be taken on board

The property itself is a little tired around the edges but the staff are friendly, it’s in a great location with wonderful sea views, the breakfast is hearty and the room amenities are all you could ask for. Thank you for a great stay.

Large Victorian hotel, I booked a superior room and the furniture and bathroom fitting were smart and fairly new. There is a problem with maintaining such a large old hotel and bathroom was full of cobwebs, bedroom walls were scuffed and window frames were in poor condition. The buffet breakfast is good quality and staff are friendly. It is a short walk to all facilities and attractions.

The property is quite outdated and needs to have a bit of a refresh. The room I stayed in was dirty with cobwebs on the ceiling. The tap in the bathroom did not fully work as every time I lifted the tap to use it, the tab would immediately fall down stopping the water coming out. But the bed was very comfortable which was a plus.

Prime Location

The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from Eastbourne Station through the town and left at the end onto Grand Parade. As such it has a prime location near the beach and pier plus it is close to the shops. Externally the hotel is a little disappointing and like other hotels in Eastbourne it has obviously seen better days. The two lifts are quite small for such a large hotel. I had asked for a room away from lifts/stairs and found my room right at the end of the corridor overlooking Terminus Road where roadworks are ongoing. These started before 0730 and it would have been annoying if my stay had been longer. Clearly this is not the fault of the hotel and few people want to visit Eastbourne and stay in their room. The room itself had functional furniture and fittings but no USB port. The en suite had a good shower fitted over the bath. The windows were old style sash type and needed a clean. There is a large dining room for breakfast which overlooks the pier. Various hot and cold items were available but no poached eggs cooked to order - only scrambled eggs. There is a bar at the hotel and entertainment some evenings. The staff I met were pleasant and tried to be helpful.
