Nice on the outside, dark dining room with stuffed animal heads all round the walls off putting. Basic room , had a good shower. Slow service on food in garden 45 minutes for a sandwich & cup of tea.

Excellent
Really peaceful location set in a stunning location. Great old building set in its own very private grounds, food was excellent both for breakfast and evening meal, would highly recommend
Booked here last minute for an impromptu night away and had an amazing time. The Horseshoe Hotel is so cosy and peaceful, it was ideal for a relaxing break. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming and were always on hand to provide assistance. We had our evening meal and breakfast here and the food was delicious, and the portions were very generous.
The hotel is beautiful and extremely well appointed with an excellent restaurant at very reasonable prices. It is definitely not pub grub but quality food and service. I would recommend to anyone especially if you have dogs as it is dog friendly. If i could find something to moan about it would be that the single bed was a little narrow for my taste but it wont stop me from staying there again i will just ask for a double bed
A great place to take a dog, they really love them, they don't just say yes to them and push them into the corner. The rooms nicely done and the food good.

Very friendly hotel with lots of nice things around great beer garden and farm shop with nice food and drink
a lovely place to stay, room great, staff great, beer great, food excellent, and in a beautiful area. Breakfast in particular was superb. Very good for walkers on the coast to coast trail. Hope to go again.
Having been here many times before it is disappointing that it does not feel a warm and welcoming pub anymore. The restaurant is the only source of food where sometimes the option of lighter bites in the pub is ideal.
The room was very small and dated, no space at all
Great country pub in an idyllic setting down in the Esk valley inland from Whitby. A great outside seating area and outside bar, giving a great continental feel. Something that's missing this year. Outstanding food in the restaurant and food is served outside from a bbq van. All the staff are very friendly and helpful, a credit to Craig and Sandra. We enjoyed our two night stay here in the typical country inn rooms with lots of great little touches like cheese and bread in room along with chocolate and a coffee machine.
Good bits - The location is amazing, the hosts were really welcoming and the breakfast was great. The room however was not so much.
Bad bits - There were cobwebs around the walls, the shower head holder had broken so you had to hold it.
The walls were paper thin so you could hear next doors every move
The mattress was thin and not very comfy, I slept with a spring in my spine!
