Room was very uncomfortable during the night had to have window open and fan on, very hot. No Guinness in the bar Running water in the bathroom was extremely noises for us and neighbours Venue and view was spectacular friendly staff and lovely food. Enjoyed the pool.

Lovely hotel
Overall a really nice hotel in a beautiful location and worth its 4 star status. Our room was comfortable but could benefit from a little modernisation. No power/usb sockets near the bed and the floor sloped slightly (although the hotel itself is an old building so maybe to be expected)! Breakfast was excellent with good choices and staff very attentive and helpful. We didn’t eat in either restaurant in the evenings so can not comment on this. Pool and spa area was lovely. Robes and slippers in the rooms was a great added touch. We would return.

What a wonderful hotel, and in a brilliant location. Fabulous pool and spa, games room was great for our teenage grandson, and location wonderful, with fab views over the lake from our room. Steam train and aquarium within about 30 steps, as well as Boat rides. Drinks and food a bit pricey, but only 20 mins from Ulverston. Also within easy reach within South Lakes zoo. Whats not to like!

Great location, with the Windermere ferry a matter of seconds away and the Steam railway. The room we had was nice and clean and a decent with a great view of Winderemere

Classic double room
We enjoyed our stay at Lakeside Hotel, but we were rather disappointed with our room. It was very dated (although the bathroom was fine), the wardrobe was ancient and didn’t look clean. We would have had a lake view if the windows hadn’t been permanently steamed up (single glazed). Our room (402) was a long way from Reception - the hotel actually comprises of three separate buildings connected by corridors. Our room was in a converted house at the far end. One advantage was that there was a free car park directly outside. The other parking option was behind the nearby Aquarium building. Cleanliness in the rest of the hotel was excellent. The swimming pool and changing rooms were very good (we didn’t use the spa). The grounds are well kept and the conservatory was very relaxing with views across the lake. The food options (restaurant or brasserie) were good but very expensive, as were the drinks. Gratuities are automatically added but may be removed on request. The hotel is very convenient for boat trips and train journeys, which can be bought as a joint ticket if preferred. We might stay there again if we could have a better room.

Great relaxing stay
Great relaxing stay. Can't fault the location.straight on the lake with the ferry port, aquarium and steam train located across the carpark. Didn't like the auto service charge added to all bar and food orders. The food was also a little pricey, so we ate out out for most of our trip.
