Very nice cottage - lacking a few basic amenities
We had a nice stay at Lion cottage. The cottage was very comfortable and spacious. There is not much in the village itself, but it is a 10 min drive to the beach and 4 min drive to a lovely farm shop.
The reason I give it 3 star instead of 4/5 is because I think the check out process is a little unreasonbale. Due to covid, the check out time is 9am. Guests are expected to strip all beds of linens, ensure all dishes are washed and rubbish removed. I ordinarily wouldn't take issue with this as we always ensure we clean up after ourselves at any property we stay at, but to have all of this done by 9am I think is unreasonable; especially when you have young children. We were told not to ask for any flexibility to this time as it would not be granted. Given this, I'd expect some flexibility to what is expected of us - surely the cleaner could strip all of the beds.
One other thing to mention is there was only 1 roll of toilet paper provided in a 3 bedroom house. There was no tea, maybe 2 packets of sugar, and only 4 Nespresso capsules. There is no shop nearby which sells Nespresso capsules, so I suppose you need to bring your own. I will say they very generously left us a welcome bag which included ground coffee, but there was no press or coffee machine in the house for us to use it with! Given the rate per night, I don't think it is unreasonable to expect enough coffee and toilet paper to last for a 3 night stay.
