Located in the charming coastal village of Thornham, this hideaway is an arresting brick and chalk detached property, featuring a distinctive turreted entrance porch. Dating from the Victorian era and beautifully restored to an exceptionally high standard while retaining characterful original features, The Castle boasts enviable far reaching views to the coast.
Entering the house via the spacious hallway featuring a striking original architrave, and very soon realise you have found a stylish, luxurious and rather fabulous coastal holiday house. The Castle is a double fronted house. On one side is the light-filled, L-shaped dining kitchen with enough space to include a comfortable seating area; an ideal spot for relaxing, chatting and keeping the head chef company. The bespoke hand-built kitchen features natural stone worktops, a large island unit and full-size wine fridge (absolutely vital!), and enjoys views to the coast from the front and into the sunny courtyard garden at the rear, through the bi-folding doors. There's a very useful utility room adjoining the kitchen with a handy external door - so handy for when you return from a day on the beach and need to pop your sandy towels and salty attire straight into the washing machine! To the other side of the house is the sitting room which is a cosier, more intimate space with a warming wood burning stove to light for when the nights draw in. Upstairs are three capacious bedrooms (king-size, king-size zip-and-link and double) and two roomy high-spec bathrooms (one of which is en-suite). The two bedrooms to the front of the house enjoy glorious open views across the marshes to the sea in the distance - an extra excuse to lie in bed! Outside, the south facing garden is just the spot for enjoying a glass of wine while catching the last of the sun's rays.
The Castle is an ideal base for a family, couples or friends looking for a special place to stay on the North Norfolk coast. Thornham is a picturesque village made up of traditional and rather smart Norfolk properties. Located almost midway between the seaside resort of Hunstanton and stunning village of Burnham Market, Thornham is a popular holiday destination that's known for its sandy beach, some lovely local walks, a small harbour and a nearby marshland bird reserve. From The Castle it's an easy five to ten minute stroll into the heart of the village, where you have your pick of some excellent places to eat and drink, whether it's just a coffee and snack or something more substantial. Stretch your legs a bit more and walk to the beautiful wild beach to take in the lovely sea air and stunning views along this beautiful coastline. It is well worth the extra effort.
