Have stayed in this hotel several times over the past say 20 years. This time I was in room 8. The receptionist upon arrival advised that the bathroom light continued to flicker, but was unable to identify the fault (I suspect it just needed a new bulb as a compact fluorescent light usually has a capacitor built into the bulb). In addition the TV did not work due to a lack of signal and no hair dryer. Breakfast was fine. However the whole hotel needs a complete refurbishment, notwithstanding that the ownership has generated funds from selling peripheral land for housing/nursing home and needs to reinvest.

Haven't stayed in this hotel for over 5 years, which at that time was looking a little run down. Pleasantly surprised that certain redecoration had been conducted in the meantime. Stayed this time in room 27 which is a family room and was enormous, although somewhat spartan ie no pictures on the wall, no clock alarm, telephone etc. Breakfast pretty good for the price. A large amount of the surrounding land has been sold off for residential development and the swimming pool/spa closed. Restaurant in the evening closed and with very little alternative choice locally.

I arrived around 6pm and it was very dark. I could not find my way around, so I had to call the hotel number. Eventually, I got checked in and when I got to the room, I was well pleased. I had to ignore the buckets in the corridors catching leaks. For the minimal price I paid, I got a suite! Beautiful all round...the bathroom with it's lovely features was tired though. The suite had beautiful but tired sash windows which didn't block the noise from the road. The deco was simple but elegant (please sort that beautiful curtain in the bedroom). If not for all these little issues, the hotel would hit 4 stars.

the Building itself is beautiful, but the room was awful, it wasn’t clean, no remote for the tv, the toilet cistern was broken and had been plugged with putty, the shower screen had been stuck with sealant as nearly falling off, the heated towel rail was rusty and filthy, the curtains were cheap and thin and didn’t keep the light out. The room had been painted grey, with in places only one coat of paint, it was soulless. The strange corridors to the the rooms in Willoughby crt where we were had not bee cleaned the 4 days we stayed there, nor had the bin outside the main door. Breakfast was nice, but the tables were relayed with the crumbs from the previous people on. They have tried to make the bar and lounge a bit modern with strange furniture. It all needs a lot of money spent on it to bring it back to its former glory. We stayed out all day and went out for dinner in the evening as there was no atmosphere in the bar and a very limited menu in the restaurant which they take the cd player from the bar and put in the restaurant with a cd that repeats. It was freezing in the bar and the lovely open fires they boast of wasn’t lit. When we checked out we weren’t asked by the scruffy looking young receptionist if we had enjoyed our stay.

Stayed in attic room. Not suitable for 6’3” people. Shower pressure was very very poor. Beams in shower caused constant banging of head. Mirror in bathroom too low. Had to kneel to shave. Totally unacceptable. Beams in bedroom caused bumping of head

Dear Guest, I'm sorry to hear that you were located on the second floor of the manor house. The only reason this would happen would be if we were unable to move you. When you next book with us just add a comment stating that you would like to be located on the first floor due to height reasons. I look forward to your next visit with us. Kind regards Jimmy
