Big Bear
Great place - clean, with the exception of glass left on the floor.

No AC in the summer time. Very close to the main road. Noisy!
Unfortunately I was disappointed in the location and the lack of AC. It was 80 degrees inside the cabin and my baby was very uncomfortable. The main road is so close the car noise is loud.

Bring a fan,On the main road, bad communication with rental company, terrible scented air fresheners
If you are going to Big Bear for a quiet getaway, this isn't necessarily the right cabin. It's right on the main road, so we heard trucks and cars all day long. It got quieter at night. We tried for 45 minutes to call the rental company (this isn't rented by a person, they're a corporate real estate company) and it was impossible to get them on the phone. 45 + min wait time. The next day, we were texted by the office after I texted them, but there communication was still very inconsistent. I asked repeatedly to have a manager call us due to more than one issue we had with the unit, but we kept being told there manager was too busy. I also had called two days before our stay, asking how they were cleaning the beds, pillows and mattresses to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and they had no answers for me. So, I requested that they leave the beds stripped and put the pillows and blankets away, and lysol spray the mattress. When we went to the checkin office, they said "oh we only got that note 5 minutes ago sorry" and they tried to reassure us but they had no details about how the beds were actually cleaned. We brought our own pillows and bedding, but I still had to strip the beds and lysol the mattress myself. The floors were swept, but NOT MOPPED because our feet kept getting black from the dirty floors. OVERALL the place was cute and clean, (aside from the floors) but upon entering the unit we got WHACKED with the smell of cinnamon and fake public bathroom berry. I, like many women, am highly allergic to candles/ air fresheners. There were a total of 6 and it took me a while to find the one stuck behind the TV after I got whacked with a migraine. Luckily we brought fans to air the place out because the ceiling fans did not circulate the air enough. It was consistently 10 degrees hotter inside than outside, no matter the time of day, so we placed the fans in front of the screen door to get the air circulating. Given that the area is pretty cool at night, it wasn't awful, but just good to note that you should bring your own fans. The grill worked, plenty of storage in the fridge, and the cabin itself was super cute. It's tiny, but it serves its purpose. Be careful in the shower if you're tall. I hit my head. Vacasa ended up refunding a small booking fee, but I still don't think their communication is anywhere near what it needs to be for a company. If there had been an emergency, there's no way we could've gotten someone on the phone.

Great cabin-service not so good.
First let’s start with the good...the cabin was great! Perfect size for my husband and I to get away for our anniversary and relax. Close to the water and Castle Rock is a short walk away. Now for the reason I gave it a 2...we drove almost 6 hours to Big Bear, the email we got stated office opened at 3pm. Got there and office didn’t open till 4pm. We got our code, went to our cabin and tried to unlock it for almost 15 minutes. Called them and it took 45 minutes for them to answer the phone. Took another 15 minutes for them to look up the code and give us the correct code. Got in and the cabin was 85 degrees. There is no AC, which isn’t a big deal, but there are only ceiling fans and no window or floor fans. 3 days into our stay I received a call from Vacasa stating they were going to come over and do a compliance check. Never had that before in all the VRBO’s we have rented. They were also out of propane for the gas grill so make sure you have gas before you plan a nice bbq with your family. There was also an ant issue in the main bathroom. Overall the cabin was nice, just wish it would have started out better. Not sure we will rent from Vacasa again because of the service we received.
