A former quarryman’s home dating from 1860 in Chapel Stile, Juniper cottage has beautiful views of Lingmoor and the Langdale Pikes, which we consider the heart of the Lake District.
Set back from the road with private off road parking there a large lawned area in front of the cottage and direct access to the fell behind. Pubs serving excellent food and local beer are within easy walking distance. The village shop is five minutes away and sells everything!
Juniper cottage is well equipped with everything you need for a truly relaxing break at any time of the year. Read a book or enjoy a film or two curled up on the sofa in front of the log burner; maybe play a game from the large selection available. In warmer weather you can enjoy a glass of your favourite drink soaking up the afternoon sun on the lawn in front of the cottage. The bathroom has been fitted with a luxurious roll-top bath, and there is also a separate shower, as well as the wet-room on the ground floor with the separate toilet. Both bedrooms and the living room have been fitted with smart TVs, and there are spare HDMI cables to plug in your own equipment. There are two log burners, one in the living room, and a small log burner in the dining room - everything has been thought out to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The twin room at the back of the house has been furnished with zip-and-link beds - please ask if you want these to be set up as twins or a king-size.
You really are in the heart of the Lake District in the Langdale Valley, arguably the prettiest in the whole Lake District, with some outstanding walking right from the doorstep. The Cumbria Way passes along the valley floor, enabling you to walk to Skelwith Bridge and the fabulous Chesters café, or venture over the fell behind the cottage to Grasmere.
For serious walkers, the Langdale Pikes route starts a couple of miles away. Bowfell, the Crinkle Crags, Pike o’Blisco and Scafel are also close by. Not a walker? Windermere, Ambleside, Hawkshead and Coniston are within half an hour’s drive.
