I was not given the room I reserved. I reserved a king size bed and was given a smaller bed in a disability access room. I called ahead earlier in the week for a late check in, but my room was still given to someone else. I will not be staying at this hotel again.

The property has lots of character, it has been renovated. Location downtown Sacramento is great , there’s a park across the street if you travel with dogs . Dog friendly , the staff was very helpful and friendly

I'm being picky, but the room wasn't as pristine as I would have expected it to be for the amount I paid. I am totally okay with paying a little more for a hotel room, but when I do I expect the toiletries to be NEW, not opened and partially used by the previous guest. No one wants to go to brush their teeth and encounter someone else's used Q-tip just HANGING OUT. Also, the hotel is close to Capital Mall, so there are a lot of unhoused people in the general vicinity of the property. This is a major problem in Sacramento generally, but if you are unprepared it could be alarming. I felt safe in the hotel, but I would not leave the hotel unaccompanied and go to a restaurant. Also, personal gripe but it freaked me out, I ordered a Ceasar salad from room service, and, when it came, not only was it covered with anchovy fillets (that was not explicitly stated on the menu) but the dressing was . . . off. Before you book a stay, give the hotel a gander on Google Maps . . . and maybe go to Jimboys before you check-in.
