When to go

The mild climate makes Rome a pleasure to visit at any time of the year. However, the best times are definitely during spring and autumn when the days are sunnier and temperatures are very enjoyable.  Temperatures in Rome soar in July and August and many Romans take a vacation during this period and many businesses are closed so you can enjoy a city which becomes traffic and crowd free and you can enjoy drinking fresh water from the “nasone”, being the drinking fountains of Rome. From December to February the weather is cold and crisp, but very rarely is both grey and oppressive.

Dining

An ancient place like Rome, a living breathing museum of art and history with a culture so special and unique could just be one of the greatest capitals of the restoration of the world accommodating a large culinary tradition.  Most of the restaurants offer a menu that may be a little obvious, but without a doubt full of typical and genuine dishes made of unmistakable flavour of folk tradition and local produce. Among the cult of Roman shopping sites not to be missed is the area of the Trident with the famous Via dei Condotti, Via Borgognona, via Frattina and the whole area around the Spanish Steps, dotted with world renowned jewelers and the workshops of the most important Italian and International fashion designers. All the streets around Via dei Condotti and the Spanish Steps are therefore devoted to high fashion -, all the big names  have a presence here.  Whatever your budget - it is still great fun to walk around looking in the windows. You cannot visit Rome without including a full immersion into the thousands of years of history. The Colosseum is of course the most famous and iconic monument in Rome. Here gladiators used to challenge each other in mortal combat and condemned prisoners were killed by hungry beasts. Usually, visitors reach the Colosseum walking in Via dei Fori Imperiali where they stop over to visit the Roman Forum, the onetime heart of the commercial, political and religious centre of ancient Rome. There are many wonders in Rome to visit and they are all relatively close to each other: you can visit the Pantheon, one of the world's most famous and imitated architectural monuments, the Trevi Fontain, the largest and most famous fountain in Rome which was completed in 1762 by Nicola Salvi and, two centuries later, immortalized by Marcello Mastroianni and Anita Ekberg in Fellini's La Dolce Vita. Nightlife

No need to go a long way to have fun in Rome. Football and opera, dance and film - the Eternal City is not lacking in anything.
