It’s a great location with newly renovated building connected with the original building. The new ones are super nice specially with the ocean view balcony. Elevator had issues. And the rooms are not soundproof you can’t hear everything from the hall.

On my first night there seemed to have been a concert going on because there was loud music until about 2am. I also left the hotel with bites all over my body. The hotel said they did a thorough search for bed bugs but did not find evidence of them. I definitely left La Jolla Cove Suites with bites from bed bugs.

Only stayed one night so we just got the basic non renovated room, very small but we didn’t plan on hanging out in the room. Location of hotel was great and everything was walkable. If we were to stay more than one night it would definitely be worth the money to do the room upgrade. Pool and hot tub were nice. Location was amazing, right across from the cove with the seals. Would stay here again.

My son has sensory issues pictures on website are absolutely deceiving and it is nothing like pictures. The manager agreed to refund me at no penalty for my son’s autism disorders and then I contacted Expedia and they stated manager will not. I will escalate the matter this was absolutely Inconsiderate as they are the ones who lied on the way hotel looks!

The ocean view was nice. They put us in the older section it was like 70s decor the chairs was all stained. It looked like it was apartment. we got the 2 bedroom with ocean view the living room had no air conditioner it was hot The bedrooms had a standing air conditioner the large bedroom with the king size bed air conditioner did work that well it was blowing hot from the back of the cooler and cold air from the front so it was never cold. we had them come in 2 times to fix it they just taped the back. And still don’t work it was hot!! Other than that we had an amazing time we don’t spend too much time in the room or the hotel. I wouldn’t stay there again.

There seems to always be construction going on, right in front of the building or next door. The seals, well nothing can be done about that. But if you’re a light sleeper, expect to be woken up before the sun by the seals. We had a connecting room on the first floor, and we heard everything our loud noisy neighbors had going on. It was horrible sleep! More like no sleep. Mind you, we had to be up by 3am for an early flight. Other than that, the renovated rooms are nice. Might not stay here again.

This is an excellent place to stay in La Jolla because it's reasonably priced, the property is newly renovated, comfortable, clean, and the location just steps away from the Cove Beach and the village. Perfect. The name of the desk agent who checked us in at registration, Treasure, was perfectly true. There were people waiting, she was alone, a guest had absconded without checking out, a bunch of non-guests were trying to park for a wedding reception at the property, and Treasure dealt with everything quickly & efficiently, was super-courteous to everyone, got it all done! Wow!

Ended up not staying here. Room looked nothing like pictures on the website or as advertised. Carpets were deplorably dirty, furnishings were beyond outdated and tattered, portable AC units were rusty and moldy, and the room smelled terrible. Walls had peeling paint and areas where they had been repaired poorly. Most appalling beside the mold, was the sliding patio door did not close nor lock. There was a gap between the two glass sections and you could NOT lock the door! Would never ever recommend anyone staying here. It is a safety and health hazard. It needs to be shut down until management can get ahold of the conditions of the rooms.

We selected an ocean view two queen bedroom. We were given a room at the top of the hill in what we did not realize was not a refurbished or renovated room as per those advertised on their website. Instead, the room was so old and dilapidated that there was a strange portable air conditioner in the bedroom that barely worked, the carpets smelled and were so dirty you could feel it on your feet, the bathroom faucets were what seemed original, rusty and with a stained and chipped dial to turn on a hot fan, and we even had a flimsy liner for a shower curtain that was ripped and cut in many places. The couch was so smelly, old and small that it was practically shredded all over. Lastly, the lock to our room did not even work so we felt unsafe all night. Upon extensive complaints to Expedia and then the front desk manager the next morning, we requested a full refund to which we were promised would take place. Despite an amazing location and for some rooms, a beautiful view, I would strongly not recommend this hotel as you are completely taking a gamble on getting a newer or much older and what we believed to be ‘not rentable’ rooms for the same exact price. In addition, if you were to get a room up the hill, there are no elevators and so you have to walk up approximately 50-75 very small and steep stairs with your luggage. The website is 100 percent deceiving and the older and dilapidated rooms should not even be allowed to be assigned to guests. Ever.

Fantastic stay
We had an ocean front room with a lovely patio. We were able to watch the waves and listen to the sea lions! In order to swim, we just crossed the street and headed to the cove where the sea lions welcomed us into the ocean. Our room was immaculate and we were very comfortable. The bedding was great and the bathroom was well stocked. We were right next to the rooftop patio and there was a wedding on our first night but we enjoyed the music and it did not disturb our sleep. We took advantage of the same space the next evening to relax and it was wonderful.
