This charming home is located just one block from the pristine beach as well as Carlsbad Village with its boutique shops and fabulous restaurants. The main house has two bedrooms, while the third bedroom is in a detached cottage. The living area boasts a large dining table and a warming gas fireplace. This home also features a dine-in chef's kitchen with plenty of counter space. Outside, there is a front yard seating area with a firepit as well as an enclosed, canopy-covered, rear patio area with a table to dine alfresco. Other amenities include a washer/dryer, four new TVs, a DVD Player, and complimentary high-speed internet access. All premium movie channels and streaming services are included in every bedroom.

Great place in a great location

This property is in such an amazing location. So close to the beach and great restaurants in walking distance even with a big family. The house has everything you might need - stocked kitchen, beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, and plenty of linens. Great experience!

Great 3 bedroom/3 bathroom and location!

Great location. Unwelcoming as locks on so many drawers and cabinets; the owners things in what was left unlocked. Huge hampers in closets, minimal hangers. AC in 3rd bedroom needs filter cleaned; it smells. Location!

Smells terrible

There’s a terrible mold like smell at this property. Contacted the Property manager multiple times. They offered to move me to a different property that was not anywhere near close to the beach like this one. I asked to get refunded the remainder of my state as I would like to have left, but they never returned my calls. I called four times and each time was told that the property owner will contact me and I was never contracted.

Ideal Carlsbad property for us

Location and layout of living quarters (for 3 adults) were ideal. Key code and WiFi code were incorrect in initial notification, but property manager was very helpful and responsive to all our concerns. Thermostat needs adjustment - unnecessary A/C for hours resulted in our discomfort and surely great cost to the owners. Property very well equipped and good for families.

Great for families with little kids

We would love to stay here again. The layout of the property is a little weird but it worked for our purposes (3 adults and 4 kids ages 1, 3, 6 & 8). Nice outdoor areas. Totally walkable to the beach and located near the beach ramp, not the stairs, so it’s way easier with strollers and wagons. I couldn’t figure out the high chair so that was annoying but no big deal. The bathroom located in the main bedroom is nice but the shower is SUPER small so if you are a larger person that may be an issue, but the 2nd bathroom is “normal” size with a tub. The backyard was great... backs up to a hotel but we didn’t have any noise issues and it was nice that the kids could play in a secure area. We didn’t expect a view and we didn’t get one... but this is located in a beautiful little neighborhood and, for Carlsbad, I really don’t think you can beat the location. If we go back I would bring 2 tension-based baby gates to make the front yard a little easier for me with the babies.... otherwise no complaints. A carbon monoxide detector was beeping when we first got there but the property managers were there in a flash to take care of it. One of the fans wasn’t working when we got there but they took care of that too - close enough to the water that I slept great with a blanket - there is no ac but it was still very pleasant. Short walk to Carlsbad Villiage - did it with all the kids multiple times. Overall, loved it!

Fantastic Location, Cozy House

We had a great stay at this rental. The location is phenomenal! Not only proximity to the beach, but the beach access is key! Just around the corner and across the street and you’re right there! So fast and convenient. Essentially everything you could need in the town of Carlsbad is easily within walking distance. As mentioned in several reviews, there is no AC. While we were staying, the highs were mid 70s. At this temperature, we were comfortable. I think it could’ve been a different story if the highs were mid 80s, which is not too common for Carlsbad. A few things that we enjoyed that was not advertised in the listing: several beach chairs, umbrellas and sand toys are avail to use, there is a fire pit and a few logs were provided, large comfortable blow up mattress is avail in unit, lots of towels are provided. Things I suggest you bring with you: extra trash bags, your own ground coffee if you plan on having coffee in the unit, fire starter log and extra wood if staying more than one night, extra paper towels, travel size laundry detergent. Overall, this place really has everything you could want: location, parking, security, convenience, cozy and well appointed home.

Great location

This was a great house that was close to town and to the beach. The house was very clean with a large kitchen. This company was wonderful to work with and in constant communication with me. I would absolutely book with McLain Properties again for future trips.

Location, location, location!

Great location! They provided lots of towels which was so nice! There are two things that would have made our stay more comfortable. Air conditioning, even though the temperature was in the 70’s the house was a bit stuffy. The Queen sized bed mattress needs to be replaced it sinks down in the middle.

Great location!

Loved the location...a couple blocks to the beach and the Village. The layout of the house is a little weird. The easiest way to get to the back detached bedroom is thru the master. Otherwise you walk around to the side of the house and through the kitchen. No TV in the master but nice TVs in the other rooms. Great setup in the kitchen. All of the dishes, pots and pans you could possibly need and plastic dishes for kids. We did quite a bit of cooking so I was happy that the pots and pans were good quality. The was one small bar soap in each bathroom...luckily I saw other reviews and brought some. Nice assortment of linens, towels and blankets. This is my second time renting with Mclain properties and I will definitely check their rentals first for my next CA trip.

Perfect for families

We stayed here with our three year old and another family from out of town. All together we were four adults and three kids under six. This house was as in the perfect location- walkable to the beach, coffee shops, and restaurants. It was nice having a washer and dryer and the large kitchen and large living room were perfect for our large group. Our favorite was the fire pit, which we enjoyed every night!

Great Beach House to stay in Carlsbad

This was a great home to rent for a family reunion. The back patio is shaded and cool for meals at breakfast, lunch or dinner. You can't beat the location - two blocks from Carlsbad beach. The amenities were a little lacking - no hand soap or soap for the bathrooms. No laundry soap was provided; however per the contract when you rent this house, you are to do a load of towels if you exceed one towel per person. In addition, the windows are original wood frame windows and some of the window locks are broken. Otherwise, it is a very relaxing home.

Enjoyed our stay

This house is in an ideal location - - one block from the beach and two blocks from the Village. The two-car driveway is also a plus as street parking is scarce. The downside is lack of air conditioning. It wasn't a huge issue for us because we left the house by 10:00 a.m. each day and returned after dark. We then opened the doors and windows to cool house while we sat outside. This house worked well for us.

Location to the beach was great

I was very disappointed when I got there and found that the place was not air-conditioned. The temperature in the house when we arrived was 89° and it was very uncomfortable. Dorothy did go purchase three larger fans but you still couldn't stay in the house during the day because it was just so hot and uncomfortable. The house was OK but nothing special. I would not want to stay in that house again although it was conveniently located to the beach

Perfect for a family

This is our second time staying in Carlsbad. First time at this home. It was lovely. It is the perfect size if you have children. We have 2. There was really nothing in the house that I had to worry about the children messing with. Lots of space for them to play. Internet was fantastic for my working husband and close walk to the Village and beach. All of the beds and linens were fantastic. 2 bathrooms - one with bath tub - always a must with little ones. We can't wait to come back!
