First they checked us into a room that someone else was already occupying. Our eventual room was terrible. Moldy and smelly a/c, tired furniture, broken tv which had to be replaced during our stay, no phone in room, no coffee maker, etc. Very unimpressive room for nearly $500 a night with taxes and fees.

The hotel is quite old, and even though the staff invests in maintenance, some things just can not be fixed. For example, my room had a weird floor angle - the pen would roll over from a table since it was not horizontal. The room had a fridge, but not a kettle - so every time I wanted a cup of hot water/tea I had to go to the ground floor to the "communal kitchen". Not terrible, but quite inconvenient, especially early morning. The staff was friendly at the location, but when I called the hotel later asking for assistance with my stay receipt, the response was professional, but unfriendly, along the lines of "You should've booked directly with us". Overall - definitely not coming back to this specific hotel.

The property is situated in an excellent location, just a short walk from Newbury Street. As the oldest hotel in Boston, it carries some historic charm but also presents a few challenges. Noise can be an issue, as sounds from doors closing are easily heard throughout the hotel. During our stay, the television fell off the wall, but the staff promptly addressed and resolved the situation. Overall, the service was outstanding, and the hotel is well-suited for a brief stay.

It was perfect. Hotel is older and quaint. Rooms are small, but we didn’t mind that at all. It was clean. The location couldn’t have been better. We will definitely book there again when we get to go back
