I stayed in a corner room with a balcony and beautiful views of the canal. Room has a Bluetooth speaker that was fun using throughout my stay. The issue I had with the room was it's distasteful smell. I suspect some serious partying went on in the room. I couldn't easily change my room, beacuse the hotel was booked. Someone came up and sprayed the room. It did help but started to wear off at some point. I think the hotel needs to start renovating it's room. It's got a funky look, but kinda of outdated. Overall, i really enjoyed my stay, which is why I didn't change my room the next day. Fun location, helpful staff, large room and perfect views of the canals. I recommend eating in the hotel restaurant. It was very good.

We booked to stay at this hotel as we have stayed in leidesplein many times and always wanted to stay here. The room was not ready ok our arrival we were then told to come back at 3pm, i saw gran turismo was in town and occupied many of the rooms and they clearly had money and were uperclass. The drivers and camera crew were staying there that weekend. I noticed i had a missed call and voicemail. I checked it and it was from the hotel manager "call me when you get this".a cryptic message. We raced back to the hotel only to be told they are all of a sudden overbooked after taking our luggage all day, and that they have booked us in the marriot up the road. This was extremely disappointing since we have for many years wanted to stay here and because we clearly paid less for the room and booked in advance and more important clientele were in town, we were subsequently moved by the hotel. They threw in breakfast but thats not the point we wanted to stay at the clayton, had looked forward to the clayton but unfortunately they did not look forward to having us and decided to move us. In 2024 no computer system no matter how primitive would not be aware of double bookings. Although the hotel is beautiful and staff are nice we had a poor experience and would never book this hotel again.

Charming, modern hotel in an excellent location within the city center. The staff was excellent, particularly in Bar American, but everyone was quite helpful. I would stay here again without hesitation.

The staff went above and beyond, great customer service. We visited Amsterdam for our honeymoon and the location was perfect, walking distance to a lot of attractions. Our room had a balcony with a nice view, everything was clean everyday during our stay. 10/10 recommend.

The hotel is ok, clean, very easy to get to all the Amsterdam attractions. I didn’t like the mattress, it was too firm for my taste. Hard to control the temperature, the bathroom was always cold, the room had a radiator and we kept it on warm. We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant everyday. The breakfast was good but we encountered a very obnoxious waiter. The rest of the staff was very nice and polite.

Such a lovely stay and great first introduction to our stay in the Netherlands. Tram is easily accessible. Plenty of great food and shopping options minutes away from the hotel. Great view of the canals. You will not regret your stay here at Clayton. Cafe and breakfast was incredible and very much an option that is well worth it. Room was always kept clean as per request. Definitely recommending to any person who is staying within Amsterdam
