Located in the private, gated community of Gateway Mountain, a 3,000-acre nature preserve, Big Sky Lodge provides ample space and convenient comforts to ensure the perfect getaway for family and friends. Close to all that Western North Carolina has to offer in way of attractions and activities, you can easily travel to town for entertainment or stay on the mountain to enjoy exclusive amenities. As a guest in this secluded and scenic community, you'll have access to lush wooded forests, gorgeous waterfalls, and stunning mountaintop vistas along with two small lakes and a trout pond for catch-and-release fishing (no license required).
This nature-filled haven is teeming with plant life and wildlife that you can enjoy firsthand at your leisure. On the main level, you'll find a large great room with floor-to-ceiling windows, a stone fireplace (please use Dura-flame logs only), a pool table, a dining room that seats 6, and a state-of-the-art kitchen with a smooth surface stove, stainless steel refrigerator, large farmhouse sink, and additional table that seats 4. You'll also find 2 bedrooms (one with a Queen-size bed and one King-size bed) and a full hall bath. Upstairs, you'll find a charming loft area with seating that is perfect for taking afternoon naps or reading books from the built-in wall library. Just off from the loft, you'll find the master bedroom (King-size bed) and luxurious en suite bath that includes a jacuzzi tub and walk-in shower. Downstairs, you'll find 2 additional bedrooms (one with a Queen-size bed and one with a Queen-over-Queen bunk bed), a full bath with a walk-in shower only, a laundry room, and a spacious den with a smart TV.
Big Sky Lodge is conveniently located on Old Fort's Gateway Mountain just 7 miles from Interstate 40, placing it near the large city of Asheville (50 minutes away) that is home to the famous Biltmore House and Mast General Store and the resort town of Black Mountain (15 miles away) that offers antique shops, boutiques, and delicious restaurants. It's also just 20 short minutes away from Marion, another quaint town with even more options for food and activity, while the beloved Catawba Falls trail is just 12 miles away. A scenic 30-minute drive south takes you to Lake Lure, where there's no shortage of family-fun activities. In addition to a swimming beach, there's a water park, twilight dinner cruises, boat tours, and boat rentals (paddle and pontoon). After enjoying time by the water, head over to Chimney Rock, Mount Pisgah, or Mount Mitchell State Parks which are also nearby, or take advantage of the golf courses in one of the beautiful towns mentioned above. Continue south for another 45 minutes, and you'll find the charming town of Hendersonville and the historic Flat Rock Playhouse. Big Sky Lodge is in the perfect location to offer you privacy and serenity while still being close enough to neighboring towns to provide you with endless options for activities and adventures so you can enjoy the best of both worlds during your vacation.

-You must only use Dura-flame logs (which can be purchased at any grocery store) in the living room fireplace.
-There is an exterior security camera in the driveway.
-The garage is not part of the rental.
-During the colder winter months, icy and/or snowy road conditions and delayed snow plow operations are possible within the development. From December through March, please come prepared with AWD or 4WD vehicles. We also recommend travel insurance for those staying in the Gateway Mountain development during the winter months.
-No parking is allowed on roadways or at gate entrances. No RVs, boat trailers, camping trailers, or trailers of any kind are permitted in the Gateway Mountain Community
