Staff like Hikaru-san made our 2nd stay fantastic!
This is my second adventure at the Thousand Kyoto, and while it may not have been as long as my first stay, the experience was nothing short of magical—if not even more spectacular! The staff here are incredibly friendly and professional, creating an atmosphere that feels like home. We paid for an upgraded room and it was immaculate and spacious, with a lovely corridor area that adds to a much bigger space! But what truly made this visit unforgettable was a delightful reunion with a staff member, Hikaru-san. During my first stay, he had been in charge of our luggage, and his warm greetings, always by name, made us feel so special. Fast forward seven months, and the moment we stepped into the hotel, there he was—Hikaru-san, the first person we bumped into! He greeted us instantly by name, like we were longtime friends! I wasn’t surprised to hear he was promoted; he truly deserves every bit of recognition! While the hotel itself is phenomenal, it's dedicated staff like Hikaru-san that infuse a personal touch, making it an extraordinary experience. Since my last visit, I’ve recommended this gem to at least three colleagues and friends, and they all rave about it being one of their standout highlights! What an amazing place to return to!

What a spectacular property. Not what you would expect literally next to the train station. Beautiful lobby and rooms, the latter spacious and high-tech. Most comfortable bed in Japan. Was definitely worth the splurge!

Generally nice and while any complaints are largely explained by Japanese cultural dynamics, at the end of the day hospitality should accomodate guests. Two main complaints were no access to Spa with tattoos and ultimately staff being too hands on regarding baggage etc. If I prefer to move my bags myself please allow me to.

Absolutely one of the best hotels i have ever stayed in. Very unique and relaxing, with an incredible room. The breakfast in the morning was the best ive had at a hotel, and I highly recommend the Japanese option especially to western travelers like me looking for something unique. I was genuinely sad i had to go home and i will definitely be back.

This property was lovely. The design and ambiance of the hotel is terrific. From exceptional bed linens and towels, and room controls that get the lighting and blinds just right- this is the stay for you. Room amenities included actual China and table wear for those snacks in your room. The location to the train station was handy. If you’re not taking the train, Kyoto station offers a 7-11, a fabulous department store, and a few floors of exceptional restaurants to choose from. The staff was outstanding- all friendly and willing to go above and beyond to make your stay memorable. The gym was one of the best equipped facilities I have seen in years. The breakfast buffet was great, and do yourself a favour… if you’re a westerner- experience their Japanese breakfast at least once because they do it well. Lastly, the large interactive stair case in the lobby is quite delightful in the evening.

We had a restful stay at the Thousand Kyoto and really appreciated how comfortable, clean, and serene our room was, especially after long days of being on our feet for sightseeing around Kyoto. The spacious bath/shower and fitness center were nice amenities. The hotel is conveniently adjacent to Kyoto Station. We did not have time to try the restaurants or spa.

Hotel is centrally located right by the Kyoto train station. Staff very friendly very helpful. It would’ve been great if they had Self laundry services On site. I would also recommend that they expand TV services for English speaking customers if possible or allow connection via smart device to their TVs so clients can stream their own content.
