Rocks Cabin

Our calendar is updated in real-time & our nightly rates are accurately displayed. Simply enter your desired dates and click 'Book Now!'

Rocks Cabin is a unique, rustic home located on a one-acre private beachfront lot and is in a gated community. Situated 50 feet above sea level, the home is approximately 200 feet from the sand dunes, affording a great perch and unobstructed view of the beach, surf, and ocean sights. Described as a botanical paradise with completely native old-growth vegetation, including false Lily of the Valley, Indian Celery, various types of rainforest ferns, flowers, and native plants. Tucked in the old-growth Sitka Spruce Conifers, privacy is optimum. This home is an ideal spot for bird-watching, and winter storm-watching is incredible! The roar of the surf can be amazing, even from inside the cabin.

The cabin itself is rustic in decor, with a wood-burning fireplace. Electric heat is also available to ensure your comfort. A ladder with a handrail takes you to the loft area, which offers two twin beds. The ladder has a 300 lb. weight limit.

Below Rocks Cabin is a long and wide expanse of gorgeous shoreline that, even in the height of summer, you may find you have all to yourself. This beach is also the only designated light airplane airstrip on the entire Pacific Coast, so get ready for airway commuters to drop in for a morning spring razor clam dig. Gray whales migrate by Copalis in April/May and Oct/Nov. The blows can be seen with the naked eye from the cabin, but bring binoculars to get better views.

The well-maintained private path to the beach is utterly delightful! Take a nice stroll through towering trees and blossoming vegetation with seasonal babbling brooks. You are just over five miles from the quaint town of Pacific Beach to the north, about 45 minutes from Lake Quinault and its beautiful trails through the rainforest, and a short drive to Ocean Shores, where you will find the Casino, many restaurants, and activities for the kids.

There is access to a level 2 charging stations for EV's - its about two blocks away from the rocks cabin. $10 flat fee - must make a reservation to use the station.

Recent Home Updates
The cabin was remodeled in 2024. The entire front wall, patio door, and front windows were replaced.
The entire cabin was leveled. Much of the deck was replaced.
We expanded the dining room and added an all-new kitchen with new cabinets, a sink, a countertop, and a dishwasher.
All three beds and frames were replaced, including the living room couches and electric baseboard heaters.
The loft was repainted and new vinyl flooring
The access loft ladder was replaced
The driveway access was redone so it's easier to get in and out.

Things to Know
Check-in time: 4:00 p.m.Check-out time: 10:00 a.m.All guests shall abide by Vacasa’s good neighbor policy and shall not engage in illegal activity. Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.No smoking is permitted anywhere on the premises. Copalis Beach is closed to motor vehicles from April 15 - Sept 1 (except during active razor clam openings). The only way to access the beach in front of the cabin is to use the Roosevelt Beach public access (north on Highway 109 - about 4 miles) and then drive south on the sandy beach. When you reach the Iron Springs Resort, you will have to ford the Iron Springs River. This can be difficult (and dangerous) if the water levels are high. Many people choose to turn around here, rather than continue to the beach in front of the Rocks cabin.

Rustic and private, just as listed. Gorgeous views and proximity to beach, though the path to the beach can be slippery. Thanks!

Cuteness lost to Corporate Maintenance
This rustic basically one room cabin is very cute and the setting is amazing. It was a wonderful experience to be so close to a quiet section of a beach. Unfortunately the owners sold out to a bad property management company Vacasa. It is very hard to find the cabin and we were at the end of the trail after a long day of driving at somebody else's cabin. We called Vacasa but they were no help in getting instructions so we had to drive around steep narrow roads until we found the cabin. Once inside it was nice, the one bedroom has large opening to the main room with only a curtain hanging there so it is not really a room to separate loud sleepers to allow others quiet. Some of the dishes were dirty forcing us to clean before use and there was not enough dishwasher soap keep up so we had to do dishes by hand. The view and deck were very nice and we enjoyed many trips to the beach. Once back in the cabin and time to clean up the shower did not work. Another call to Vascasa resulted in nothing more promise that a ticket was put in to the local crew and we would be contacted soon. We were never contacted and had to take baths. The log book and story of the house are all wonderful and it is nice place with good working heaters and plenty of blankets for that rustic feel but much of that is lost by a horrible management company such as Vacasa. Going forward I will never rent a place managed by Vacasa again, this place has so much potential if only it were maintained.

Weather didn’t help
We’ve been visiting Copalis Beach for a long, long time, and we know what the weather can be like. What I didn’t understand is that the VRBO photos of the interior really exaggerate the size of the cabin…in person, it’s very, very small. In nice weather, not such a problem. In bad weather, with two large, young, active dogs, it was borderline impossible. We came home halfway through our scheduled trip. The owners have done their best on the path to the beach but again, because of the weather, it was very muddy and slippery. A gravel bed in the level portions might help. The gate to the neighborhood didn’t work without repeated attempts…maybe weather related? The location is wonderful and the bed was comfortable, but the cabin is a bad fit for us as it turned out. More accurate photos would have been a big help.

Rocks Cabin Rocks
We've been visiting this beach for > 30 years and love it. We've stayed at the Rocks Cabin several times and always have a great time. The location, views and access to the beach are all top shelf. The cabin isn't shiny and new so as long as you're open to a charming cabin with a few imperfections and not the Ritz Carlton you'll have a great visit.

Lovely location
Very cute little cabin. We loved how close it was to the beach and we had it mostly to ourselves! One of the upstairs beds was more comfortable than the other but the girls just decided to share instead. It was the perfect excuse to sit and read while listening to the waves and rain.

Comfortable Cabin
The little cabin is comfortable, and this visit was our third (I think). It was quiet for the most part -- except for us -- we had to get accustomed to the screen door, as it banged shut a few times, very loudly. It's not a slow close screen like we are used to. Also, the doors were a little hard to close quietly as well. The stairs and the walk down to the beach isn't that steep for 70+ year old knees, one just needs to be careful. Railings were put in, so, easier to get up and down. Instead of packing our beach chairs up and down each day, we left them at the bottom of the stairs. We were greeted at the door with a sign that read "please take off your shoes" -- well, we always bring indoor and outdoor shoes, so we weren't quite sure if that meant we had to go shoeless inside. One of us has neuromas on the soles of each foot, so walking around barefoot or in thin soled slippers gets painful (it's like walking on marbles). The cabin provides the basics that you'd expect to find. No shortage of blankets, soaps, towels, kitchen items, etc. Luxury gourmet? No. It is comfortably rustic, just enough 'things' to get the job done. Unless we are flying, we always bring our own utensils, pans, kettle, and dishes that fit the pre-planned menu items, & our camping box is always ready to go, anywhere, anytime. And, FYI, no sign of critters inside the cabin. Spiders though. For an old cabin, it's clean. Leave tips for the cleaners . . . before leaving the sound of the ocean . . .

Ripped off
The view is beautiful. The cabin not so much. I paid $344 a night for this place. What did I get? Worn out pillows and sheets and a mattress so old that the sides had broken down. The driveway was a dangerous disaster. Supposed to be a circular driveway but the car couldn’t handle the steep incline and loose gravel and we forced to turn around in a very tiny space with much difficulty. On one side of the driveway is a deep hole at about the area when a car door is opened. One could break a leg or damage a car in that hole. Doors are cracked and split and some are unpainted. Sofas are nice. Tables appear to be goodwill rejects with no paint in areas. Only one lamp could be used for reading at night. No safety bars at the tub or toilet. Floors VERY uneven and boards on the deck uneven enough to cause one to trip and fall. Some windows were dirty and dining table had not been cleaned well from previous renters. The garbage can was completely full when we arrived I have rented coastal properties with views that were far better for far less This construction of this cabin appears to have begun more than 50 years ago and never finished. It appears to have been a DIY project by someone who did not understand how to build something. This experience has shown me the kind of properties you represent and the high rates you charge for a subpar rental. We will not be doing business again

Cute nest above a gorgeous beach
If you love a natural, private, unplugged beach experience, this is wonderful. The accommodations are clean and comfortable with expansive views and the calming sound of waves. We made a fire in the wood burning stove after an evening of strolling the beach. We found many sand dollars along the way. We'd love to return!

Appreciate Simplicity
We had a nice stay. It was the first time we brought our dogs on a weekend get away. I was pleasantly surprised upon arrival that since it was a property that allowed pets that it didn’t smell like it. It was a little tough having to leash / walk the dogs to go potty. There’s really not a good spot on the property to let them out to do their thing. But it wasn’t the end of the world. Even though there are other properties within the gated area that this cabin is located, you still have the quiet / private feeling. The trail down to the beach was very well kept and it was nice to have such quick access. Both days we were there, there were quite a number of people out on the beach with their vehicles for either fishing or clamming so that was a little disappointing as we had hoped for less traffic since that was the point of a more remote destination. Over all, this cabin was perfect for a peaceful getaway. It’s definitely nothing fancy but it was clean. You have to have appreciation for little quirks here and there. It definitely has its own rustic charm. It has a fully stocked kitchen - plates, bowls, glasses, silverware and miscellaneous kitchen gadgets you might need. Bed was comfortable. If you have kids, it has a cute little loft with 2 twin size beds. One little downfall is that the shower head was super low. If you’re under 5’…it’s perfect; but otherwise a little awkward to try and position yourself to wash your hair. One suggestion I might make to maintenance is

Nice cabin in a beautiful location
Our stay was great. If you expect a 5-star hotel, this cabin is not for you. Of course, the cabin is old (built in 1960), but to us this was an attractive feature, not disadvantage. It was built with love, and the booklet in it told about the reasons why it has not been renovated recently. We got everything we wanted and expected - beautiful location, sense of privacy (there are other houses nearby, but the cabin is completely screened from them by trees and shrubs), easy access to the beach. Inside, we enjoyed the fireplace, great for this season and weather.

Cozy, rustic cabin.
Nothing fancy but comfortable. Shower is very dark. 7 year old granddaughter liked playing in the loft but she didn’t sleep up there because she sleep walks. Rained hard all night, which was nice to listen to but made the trail to the beach not really useable because the mud was over my shoes but other beach access was not far away. Lacks cabinet space but it was built in the 60s so understandable.

A Beach Cottage " Far From The Madding Crowd"
Rocks Cabin is a hidden jewel at Copalis Beach. This cabin, built in the 60"s, has withstood the march of time with warmth and character. Its magnificent view, cozy living room with a wood stove, and beautiful deck made being inside almost as pleasant as walking on the crowd-free beach, with our two Labrador Retrievers. Cozy Cabin with a Stellar View
We enjoyed our stay at this wonderful location, although the cabin itself has some issues and needs some TLC. It was clean enough and we didn't mind the shabby furnishings, but the uneven floors and the dark and dreary, tiny bathroom took some getting used to. Fortunately we had read many visitor reviews prior to booking so we knew we weren't going to a 5-star lodging. As others have said, the best feature is the ocean view and the beach itself. Our little dog loved running free on the beach and despite the changeable weather we were able to spend time every day on the beach. Our last day there the weather turned beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed sitting out on the spacious deck.

We loved our stay. The walk path to the beach is well maintained but you definitely cannot have any mobility issues.
