A beautiful historical building but found the room unsympathetic to this! Just didn't quite match. There was no mattress protector on out bed, no teaspoon and no tea bags.

This property is steeped in history, it used to be the Coal Exchange (It's claim to fame is it was the first place that ever issued a cheque for £1,000,000.00 a copy of which is hung on the wall in the dining room). The hotel staff are excellent and nothing is too much trouble and the location is excellent. For me there was just one problem and its the rooms, I've stayed in this hotel a couple of times now and whilst the rooms are spacious and very quiet, it's the little things that bug me, for example in the bathroom one of the bulbs was flickering which was so annoying I took it out, there was mastic around the water spout on the bath where someone had tried to seal it and a tile was missing (be it a small one, I noticed it). The bedroom itself was nice except for the dust on the cabinets by the bed, which was thick enough to write your name in, but to be fair the cabinets are dark in colour so dust will show up more on them. The bed itself was clean and comfortable and the blackout curtains did an excellent job of blocking out the light. I know I'm being fussy with the bathroom and the dust but I'm a Facilities Co-ordinator by trade and I'm paid to notice these things, and make sure they are put right.

Very stylish property, definitely a bit different from your typical modern hotel. Liked the jacuzzi bath!

Lovely building, but rooms aren’t finished to a great standard, tv in room didn’t work. Complicated bathroom set up, with little to no instruction on how to use facilities. Water left in room but no fridge so warm. No phones in room to call reception with issues. Not overly impressed based on the web site.
