Coastal and and suites: Cozy and quaint, friendly and helpful staff. It was so adorable we decided to stay an extra night. Don't forget to grab a couple of steaks and throw them on the barbie!

The hotel was dirty. There was hair everywhere in our room. Very noisy throughout the hotel.

The room was much cleaner than we expected considering the worn disgusting carpet we saw as we walked up the stairs and down the hall to our room. There was a strong musty smell that hit us every time we walked in our room that I guess we adjusted to until the next time we left and came back. The AC was very loud and didn't work well unless it was running constantly. Again, besides the carpet, the room was very clean, as was the lobby area, but they would do well to rip out that carpet. The housekeeping staff was also helpful.

Although the individual at the front desk was very nice, the facilities are very dated, carpets are stained, our sheets had glue on them, sink was clogged with food, towel rack fell off the wall, bathroom outlet didn’t work, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable which used a duvet insert as a blanket but without the actual covering. The pictures and rating online are very misleading.

Old outdated

The hotel is very old and in desperate need of upgrade. Carpets gross wear shoes always and beds and pillows hard and lumpy.

The Coastal Inn was a great place to stay for our short visit to UNCW. It was very close to the University, Downtown, and shopping. Plenty of places to eat close by as well. The staff was very courteous and attentive to our needs, always making sure everything was okay with our stay. We would definitely stay there again, and recommend The Coastal Inn to anyone wanting an economical, pleasant hotel to stay at in Wilmington.

Great Budget Friendly Hotel

Having a wedding in Wilmington at the height of BEACH SEASON, I tried to find a hotel within my budget and that was Coastal Suites came in. The positives of this no frills hotel: clean room, very comfortable bed /pillows and friendly/helpful staff. The negatives: dirty carpets in the common areas, no elevator to the 2nd and 3rd floors and no mirror in the room except for the bathroom.

Replace the carpeting

The bed was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was clean and the shower had great water pressure. I was okay with everything but the carpeting. It was filthy in the hallways and my room. Take a pair of flip flops folks. I tried to get a receipt for my room when checking out but the office door was locked and the lights were out. Sign on the door said it opened at 7A but it was already 7:15 and I had to go. Not a bad place, but it could use a few updates.
