Big Bend Lodging at Ten Bits Ranch | Room #4 (The General Store)

Big Bend National Park and Big Bend State Park area lodging with a unique West Texas old town experience.
Ten Bits Ranch has some of the most beautiful views in the Big Bend region of Texas.
The rugged off grid Ten Bits Ranch site was chosen for its breathtaking views of the dark sky stars, red craggy rocks and the beautiful sunrise and sunset over the surrounding mountains.
Guests of Ten Bits Ranch may hike and explore over 550 private acres of Ten Bits Ranch land at their leisure. Ten Bits Ranch is your own personal National Park without all the rules and restrictions of hiking the public land.
Guests may have a complimentary self-serve continental breakfast or prepare your own meal 24/7 in the full guest kitchen and dining area in the shared Cantina space.
Ten Bits Ranch is just (20) minutes from the Big Bend National Park entrance and (20) minutes from the historic Terlingua Ghost Town. Ten Bits Ranch is (20) minutes from local activities like the Big Bend rafting companies, Big Bend Stables horseback riding and the local bars & restaurants like the famous La Kiva Restaurant & Bar, Longdraw Pizza, Starlight Theatre, DB’s Rustic Iron BBQ, Chili Pepper Cafe and High Sierra Bar & Grill.
Ten Bits Ranch is (35) minutes from the amazing Big Bend Ranch State Park and the beautiful Lajitas Golf Resort.
Ten Bits Ranch has everything that you need to be comfortable (WiFi, AC, gas & electric heat, satellite television). The entire property is off grid and powered by the one of the largest (57.6 kW) privately owned solar power systems in Texas.
Experience REAL West Texas off grid living in the Big Bend region with your own off grid oasis and 550-acre private park.
Hike and explore right outside your room without the rules and limitations of the public parks. Hike with your pet, bring your ATV or motorcycle, build a fire, visit our shooting range, hike to the Apache Indian Cave or just have a drink, smoke a cigar or read a book on the porch or by the firepit and look at the beautiful mountains on the hotel property. Let the hundreds of acres and nearly complete freedom create a unique Big Bend experience.
Ten Bits Ranch has some of the best views of the famous Big Bend stars. Since Ten Bits Ranch is completely off grid and located on 550 private acres, there are no neighbors and no ground lights to obscure the perfectly dark night sky.
The amazing solitude is extremely quiet and peaceful day or night. If you come to Ten Bits Ranch when the moon cycle is dark, after 20 minutes (for your eyes to adjust), the stars will appear to surround you like a blanket. Be sure to watch for shooting stars. There is a shooting star in view at Ten Bits Ranch almost every week. Ten Bits Ranch offers a truly private, unique, off grid, dark sky star gazing experience that few people have the opportunity to see in person. The craggy Chimney Rock Mountain blocks out a beautiful black jagged silhouette in the blanket of stars.
Well-behaved pets (and well-behaved people) are welcome at Ten Bits Ranch. Hike and explore at your leisure with both your 2 and 4 legged friends.
Thank you for considering Ten Bits Ranch for your Big Bend Adventure. Wherever you choose to stay, the Big Bend area is a wild, unique and a truly beautiful place that is well worth the trip.

Great place to unplug but still have hot showers
I loved our stay at the Ten Bits Ranch. The atmosphere was fun and the night sky was incredible. If you want to almost unplug this is the place for you! While you still have electricity, heat/AC, hot showers, wifi etc. you can sit on the porch in silence and truly reset. While it IS way out there it is definitely worth it. OH-and truly bring your own food-the grocery store in Teralingua is PRICEY!

Loved it, would recommend!
We had a great time here, loved the theme and spectacular location. Enjoyed the sunsets from the rocking chairs on our porch. I was initially weary of the shared kitchen/common area, but it was lovely and may have been one of my favorite parts. It was well decorated and clean, and it was cool to meet fellow Big Bend visitors. Location is secluded, which we loved, but it was an easy drive to groceries and Big Bend. Room was very clean and well stocked with lots of towels and bottles of water. I really can't think of a single thing wrong with our stay. We looked forward to coming back every evening to enjoy the scenery and amenities. Can't wait to visit again someday!

10 Bits High Adventure
A great place to stay with Wild West character, nestled between small mountains. The small cabins were very comfortable and had great front porches to watch spectacular sunsets and sunrises! My wife and I highly recommend it to other High Adventurer travelers! We will definitely be back next time we visit in the Big Bend area!

The Wow factor is rather high here. The setting is excellent. So quiet and peaceful. Accommodations were very good. Liked the way one reviewer put it “ basic luxury “. Met some really nice people that really enhanced the enjoyment of the place. Spent a lot of time around the camp fire. Had a great time. Wish we were closer. If so we would come back soon. Will definitely come back sometime. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Stay!
We had a wonderful 1 night stay at Ten Bits Ranch the night before we went backpacking in Big Bend! The instructions were clear and so much helpful information was given to us. We especially loved the kitchen area which was a great bonus! We will definitely book here again when in the area!

Ten Stars for Ten Bits
We were very pleasantly surprised by our stay at Ten Bits. The listing was detailed and accurate. The peaceful evenings, views and accommodations were just what we needed. Remote but conveniently close enough to the park. Communication with the hosts was quick and easy. We really enjoyed our stay.

I made reservations for two nights in two different cabins, but the property manager sent me the entrance code for the second night on my first night. The next morning, I called him to clarify and to understand if I was supposed to stay in the same cabin or move to the original cabin. He asked me to live the property, when I indicated that it was his mistake not mine. The complete reimbursement was never sent, only a partial amount was received. Terrible service!

Nice rustic stay
Ten bits ranch is a great option for staying in Terlingua. It provides running water, electricity and wifi which are rare amenities in such a rustic place. The set up they have is cute. Looks like an old western town. There is no office or someone physically on the property. It is run remotely. So if there is a problem, that can be an issue. The road getting there is very rustic. You must have a truck and if it rains, it is not passable. We had to make our plans around the weather in hopes of not getting stuck on the road with no one to help us. We stayed in the country store and it did not feel very clean. The floors were not clean when we arrived. Made me wonder what else hadn’t been cleaned prior to our arrival. But I suppose if you like rustic, you won’t mind that. We did though. We like to know we are in a well cleaned room prior to our arrival no matter how rustic the stay. Overall, we had no problems which is why I rated it this way.

Awesome Place to stay
This property is tucked away surrounded by red rock formations. It has a great sunset view and we enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings where we got to meet the neighbors. You drive in on a 2 mile dirt and gravel road but it is well maintained and the drive is worth it to be in your own western town. It is well taken care of and you have a dining hall to prepare your own food and eat. There is some very basic food there you will want to bring your own. Great place you won't be disappointed.

Fantastic escape from the hustle and bustle
Overall, I loved this place! The stars at night are big and bright 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 deep in the heart of Ten Bits. My girlfriend complained of a musty smell with the sheets and towels, but it wasn’t terrible to me. I wasn’t able to get the gas log fireplace going, but luckily we had heat in the wall unit so we didn’t freeze. We’re already planning another trip back to Ten Bits and bring the whole family to rent it all out!

This was a picture perfect weekend. I love this concept of the old west town. Our cabin exceeded my expectations. It was spotless and well stocked. The Cantina and breakfast items were greatly appreciated. We are still talking about our trip and will definitely stay at Ten Bits Ranch again.

Great Remote Location
We really enjoyed our stay at the General Store at Ten Bits Ranch. The road in is a bit intimidating and I have a Pathfinder but we made it in and out just fine but I would definitely understand why they recommend avoiding the roads if it's rained. I saw cars come in just fine as well, just take it slow and steady. We did had difficulty first entering because the keypad wasn't working but I was able to reach Sis (Verizon) and she was very responsive and had someone out as soon as possible to let us in. Other than that, the stars were spectacular during the night and the Catina provided a great continental breakfast. They also provided plenty of drinking water since the water there isn't potable and the hot water for showers works wonders! What I really enjoyed is being able to walk around a bit and see so much beauty before we made a day trip to Big Bend. Highly recommend this place. Thank you!!
