About this property

Beautiful Log Cabin Lodge - Great for Groups!

Our lodge is a beautiful, clean log cabin with rustic charm on a horse farm! Relax in the Great Room with cathedral ceiling and huge fieldstone fireplace with 10 bedrooms for up to 22 guests with a total of 16 beds. Enjoy a fully stocked kitchen, game room, library, massage/yoga room, porches and outdoor grill. Enjoy fresh eggs from our hens, visit the farm animals while enjoying access to our entire property full of walking trails, swimming pool and local exploring!

Strong WiFi service!

Our guests have exclusive access to Stepping Stones Lodge which is a beautiful, hand hewn log cabin lodge on an historic working horse farm. Located in the scenic Monadnock Region of southern NH, we are an easy drive from major New England cities. If you are looking to get away from the hectic pace of city dwelling, we are the destination for you! Let the fresh air of our farm refresh your spirit and help you reconnect with family and friends, animals and the land itself.

We welcome families and friends, retreat groups and leadership teams. It has been our pleasure to host Milestone Birthdays and Anniversaries, Baby Showers, Engagement celebrations, Retirement Parties, Family Reunions, College Reunions, End of Life Celebrations, week long Summer Vacation Stays, Crafters, Writers, Spiritual and Wellness Retreats, as well as Corporate Trainings. We delight in offering safe space for meaningful, fun and restorative time to reconnect and celebrate!

Please note that we are not an EVENT space where a couple can host their wedding. We frequently host the wedding party and family members during a wedding weekend but the ceremony and reception is held in another location.

The Lodge is cozy and inviting. We provide a welcoming, inclusive and clean setting for people of all ages! Though the Lodge is peaceful and far from the work place, we do offer strong WiFi which can support multiple people browsing and working at the same time.

The lodge allows for streaming. We have a Smart TV suitable for movie watching or making a corporate presentation. However, not many people watch movies during their stay because they are having too much fun on the farm!

Board games, playing cards and puzzles are also available. We are in the process of adding a Game Room with table games and fun activities to enjoy on a rainy or snowy day. Books abound in our Library for your reading pleasure. Explore and find a fun light reading novel, a book about the local lore, or enjoy learning more about farm life and nature. Bring that book to our warm open fireplace and sit a spell in a rocking chair enjoying the crackle of the fire. In spring, summer or fall, sit on our front porch and listen to the birds and watch the horses grazing nearby.

From Memorial Day to Labor Day, splash around in our pool and enjoy the gardens. You may even see a carriage go by or a horse being ridden and trained. You would be welcome to watch and enjoy. Please note that we do not offer carriage rides or trail rides to our guests but we sure do love sharing our horses with you and giving you a tour of our historic barn. We also can direct you to two local stables who offer trail riding and lessons.

Ten bedrooms are ready to accommodate up to 22 guests. If a group is not made up of couples, 16 guests can sleep in a bed by themselves. Rooms are arranged with twin beds, queen beds and a Trundle Bed. to accommodate a variety of group sizes. All beds are outfitted with new mattresses, linens and cozy comforters. Eight of the bedrooms offers a sink and have a "Jack and Jill" bathroom which is shared by one other room. These bedrooms look out onto the main room. Our fanciest bedroom has its own private entrance and bathroom with a bathtub. The 10th bedroom is downstairs and has its own private full bath as well. All linens and towels are provided. A Welcome Basket is ready for your arrival. We also have a notebook full of wonderful things to see and do in the region. Please note: Bedrooms do not have TVs. However, we have two bedrooms that have a free standing A/C unit in them for older or younger more heat sensitive guests.

Our fully stocked kitchen is ready for your exclusive use during your stay. We invite our guests to prepare your own meals or to bring in one or more of our personal chefs to create special meals. Reach out to us to find out more about the many options to enhance your experience! We will work with you to find just the right chef for you from our extensive list of personally vetted and well known personable, creative chefs. We also will send you information on great local restaurants which abound in the Monadnock Region. Our kitchen is user friendly and well laid out for cooking for a large group. Please note that it may not not be used by outside caterers unless the owner gives special permission to make sure food safety precautions are in place for you.

We are dog friendly but our guests must speak with the owner ahead of time. With the horses and chickens onsite, we want to make sure people, dogs, horses and our 'happy hens' stay safe. We also staunchly request that dogs do not go on the furniture, on the beds or are allowed run loose. Thank you for respecting the property and other guests by helping us keep the Lodge clean and welcoming.

NEW FOR 2024 & beyond.... We now offer 'extra special' services to delight our guests. They include the following:

*Two professional In House Chefs who can prepare a special dinner or brunch for you and your guests.

*A personal & party size Charcuterie board delivered to you for your special event.

*A Grocery Shopping Service that will stock the kitchen and bar to your specification prior to your arrival.

* Onsite certified Therapeutic Massage services can be scheduled.

*Onsite experienced Child Care services can be arranged so that parents can have some time to go out for a meal or go on a hike together!

All services listed above will be provided for an additional fee. Once guests have reserved the Lodge for their stay, the owner and her team will send you an extensive Welcome Orientation Packet so you can plan your stay. We love to go the extra mile and serve as "Country Concierge" for our guests.

If you are looking to ski or snow board this winter, the farm is an easy 30 minute drive to Crochet Mountain and a little over an hour to Pat's Peak. Sunapee is a bit longer drive but it offers a bigger mountain option. Feel free to bring your own snow shoes or cross country skis as there is plenty of open space to enjoy a vigorous or leisurely winter wonderland experience right on the farm.

During Spring, Summer and Fall, the Lodge is surrounded by rolling lawns, flower gardens and a kitchen herb garden ready for add flavor to your meals. The Lodge and the farm invite you to play lawn games, feel the grass between your toes, sit in the sun, celebrate a special milestone of life, and cherish time with friends and family. Enjoy Volley Ball, Badminton, Corn Hole, Kan Jam, Croquet, Horse Shoes and Bocce. Best of all, sit around the Fire Circle together to sing songs, tell stories and eat S'Mores as you watch the moon rise and the stars twinkle. Our local owls may even sing their evening songs for you. In the morning, our rooster might wake you out of a peaceful sleep in a comfy bed with no traffic noise or bright lights!

There is always plenty to do on the farm in all four seasons! One of the favorite things to do for all our guests has been to come to the barn and meet our family of farm animals. We have 16 horses of all sizes from two miniature horses up to a gentle giant at 17 hands high. They all love to be petted and really enjoy being visited. We also have a flock of laying hens so you can enjoy collecting your own farm fresh eggs for your breakfast. A dozen fresh eggs will be waiting for your arrival. Also, if you have any left over extra food (except meat, bones or coffee grounds) the chickens would love to have you share it with them!!! Watch them run up to you in their fenced in area. They are grateful girls when our guests visit.

Our staff and the owner love to share our horses and farm animals with you if that would be a treat. Let us know in advance if you would like a complimentary tour during your stay. Get a feel for life on the farm!

The farm is surrounded by many dirt roads which encourage both gentle strolls, longer walks, bike rides and runs. In winter, there are great places to snowshoe and cross country ski right on the farm. In summer, the onsite pool is ready for you and your guests. It may not be a fancy country club pool but it sure does cool you off on a hot summer's day. It is open and ready for you to use from Memorial Day until after Labor Day. Exercise your body while enjoying being surrounded by the peace of nature!

The farm is in Temple which is an historic rural and agricultural small town. Your stay is not complete without a visit to Connolly's Dairy Farm for their famous ice cream, milk and cheese. Ben's Sugar Shack is also right down the road and features local maple and honey products of all kinds. The nearby Birchwood Inn sits on the Town Common and serves up delicious locally sourced food. The Temple Town Common with its Country Store, white steepled Church and beautiful Town Hall embody a quintessential small New England town.

Our area offers a variety of places to stroll, walk, hike and climb. The local communities have many small unique shops and restaurants. For those who want to go on a strenuous hike up Mt. Monadnock or a leisurely walk at our local State Park, dine out or shop, there are many wonderful opportunities within easy driving distance. Let us serve you as "Country Concierge" to help you customize your stay so you can enjoy as much, or as little, adventure and activity as you wish.

Please note: We no longer offer weddings. We can happily offer lodging to your wedding party but the actual wedding and reception can no longer be hosted at the farm.

Fun rustic house
The house feels a lot like a frontier cabin. It’s essentially one 3-4 story main room with 8 bedrooms connecting directly to it on two levels. We enjoyed the large fireplace in the main room, but wished the available seating better matched the room size. The cabin is rustic - lovely wood finishings throughout excepting the lowest bedroom which, along with the downstairs, could benefit from an update and some warmth (temp and decor). Instead of a dishwasher (or two given the size of the house), there’s a complex ‘sanitizer’ situation, which we wish was clearer in the description. The owner was friendly and helpful. She welcomed our group which was nice, but also at one point entered the property on her own accord, which while perhaps well intentioned, felt intrusive. We also ran out of gas for an entire day (no cooking or hot water). This felt like a very avoidable situation, but the property managers did respond promptly. We felt like a reduction in our fee was appropriate considering that significant interruption, but despite promising to do so, several weeks later we’re still waiting. Ultimately, and despite these issues, we enjoyed our time.

Great place!
Our extended family stayed here for our summer vacation. There was plenty of space both inside and out and everything we needed was there. The owner was very easy to communicate with and we loved being on the farm. The kids enjoyed seeing the animal and swimming in the pool. The adults enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and hanging by the fire pit. It was very safe for our children as well as it is off a quiet street with very few cars. It is clear the owner loves this house and farm! Recommend!

adequate but dirty and run down
The property had the right amount of size and bathrooms as described in the VRBO page. But, it needed to be thoroughly cleaned, have new mattresses, an updated clean kitchen with no ants, and a pool that was clean enough to use. The age of the property had no impact on its rating. The cleanliness was the major issue. Cobwebs were everywhere and it was just plain dirty. The people were welcoming and nice, but the property just really needs tons of work.

Great for a family reunion
It was like living on a farm without having to do all the farm work. My grand kids retrieved fresh eggs in the morning for our breakfast. The property manager goes above and beyond to ensure that you are comfortable with your stay. I highly recommend Stepping Stones!
