Fire Alarm problem not managed first night
Nice layout. Sizable dining and living rooms areas. Bedrooms, bathrooms, closets were nice size. Mud room type area upon entry was great. Nice fire burning fireplace. Some issues with cleanliness in bathrooms, but not terrible. Biggest problem was the fire alarm was chirping and 15+ feet up a wall. No one would come to fix it the first night and I certainly couldn't reach it. It was a terrible sound to deal with all night. Had driven hours and then was very challenging to be able to doze off or stay asleep. Woke with a headache. Not a fun way to start a quick weekend ski trip.

Shaver condo
Had a few issues. Had hair in the bed, pubic hairs in the tub, dust bunnies on the walls and cobwebs. I was also confused because I didnt understand that VRBO and Vacasa were the same entity. I did not enjoy the late check in and early check out.

Wouldn’t stay there in the summer or winter
I wouldn’t expect the unit to have air-conditioning but since it originally came with air-conditioning, I would figure the property owner would get it fixed… The wall heaters don’t work that were originally put in so once again, the property owner did not care to drop any money into this place… The dish washing machine is the original The oven stove is original. I it’s a lot smaller than the camera angles in the Jacuzzi doesn’t work and it is included in the HOA fee, so nobody comes and repairs that there is no pool service obviously … The gate code to get into the place does not work!! I had the gardeners key me in an otherwise I would’ve been sitting there for an hour trying to get in. It says it comes with a washer and dryer, but don’t use those unless you want to wake up the whole neighborhood because the bearings are out in the dryer and the place is up for sale and obviously the owner doesn’t want to drop one more dime in the place. I have stayed in these places before overall it was nice and clean and one of the beds was unsleepable. The beds need to be replaced when you go to a place you plan on having a nice sleep but don’t plan on that here My son ended up sleeping on the couch and if I get another rental through VACASA , I’ll make sure it is a cabin and not from these units. The owners really don’t care about dumping any money into these are all and by the way, watch your step when you go into the kitchen, you might trip and fall from the lip on the floor,!!

Great Option
Nice, clean condo with a rustic feel and some nice decor to it. Spacious. If I had one concern it was that the stairway leading up to the condo was 100% thickly iced over and dangerous--could have used some salt to melt it away. I tried to chip it away with my own shovel but it was too thick. A short 5 minute drive into the cute town of Shaver Lake, and about 30 minutes to China Peak ski resort. Would definitely stay again.

Overall great experience 4/5
Overall great experience! I would recommend and we most likely will be coming back, however there are a few things to note. Let’s start with the pros: -Well stocked kitchen and bathrooms -Clean -Good amenities -Comfortable beds -Availability by phone - we didn’t have the code for the gate and we got locked out of the rental. Two phone calls with very easy troubleshooting and communication. -Plenty of towels Cons: -Difficulty entering into the gate late at night because we were sent the code for the lock box for the key but no code for the actual gate to get into the complex. -Although clean overall, it would benefit from a deep cleaning ( lots of dust on the fans and walls, cobwebs, bugs, dirty underneath bed etc. ) - Unsafe uneven floor to kitchen, myself and the other guests tripped multiple times ( a red or yellow tape, or transition small ramp or something to indicate would be helpful to prevent accidents)

Beautiful lake!
Our condo was in a nice neighborhood - quiet, friendly, well organized. The inside looked old, but refurbished nicely. However, some things were lacking: the heat lamps and fans in both bathrooms didn't work. There was an odd heater in one of the bathrooms. The steps up to the condo were uneven, and the snow grate at the front door was uneven, making footing difficult. The living room balcony has large gaps between wood planks which could be a problem. There weren't very many outlets for our electronics. Also, we never did figure out how to run the DVD and would have liked to watch some of the DVD's available in the condo. The nice things were the furniture was nice and comfortable; the beds were comfortable (except for using flat sheets on the mattress instead of fitted which means the sheet always needs to be re-tucked in - it always seems to be a cheap way to cut costs), the bathrooms were clean and well stocked with towels, and the kitchen was well stocked. We used the washer and dryer once and they were effecient. The one thing that disappointed us was actually not the condo, but the lack of activities in Shaver Lake. The lake is absolutely wonderful and beautiful. We swam and fished every day. The water was warm, and there are many places to swim. We also drove to surrounding lakes and forests. But in town there was not much besides very few places to eat, a couple markets, a sporting goods store. But no places to shop. That would have made our time there much nicer. If what you're looking for is simply peace and quiet, you will be happy!

Poor maintenance
Property is poorly maintained. When we arrived, there was mouse poop on counters and in drawers. Every morning there was more on counters after cleaning the day before. In addition, there was a low-battery alarm going off on a smoke detector which we could not reach. Had to try to sleep the first night with the alarm as we were unable to reach the property manager till the next day.

Sandra A., I live in Oakhurst, CA, a scenic community not far from Yosemite National Park.

No local property manager!
The place was 'clean-ish' indoors and not-so-clean on the front porch or two decks (i.e. spider webs, dirt, dust, grill cover had been left on the deck etc.) Also, heads up, bring your own kitchen towels and blow dryer as they are not provided. Our main problem involved the indoor temperature. It was hot outside when we arrived at 4:00 pm and the upstairs level of the condo was uncomfortably warm and stuffy. No air conditioning, as stated in the listing, but there were two ceiling fans. However the fan in the living room area did not work. I called Vacasa immediately, explained the issue, and was told that the manager would give me a call back promptly. We waited. No call, no visit, nothing. The place was really uncomfortable. Around 11:00 that night I called Vacasa again hoping to get help the next morning, and was told the same thing--they would report the fan issue and the manager would give me a call back. Fine. Again, no response. Ever! We opened the windows both nights and that kept it cool in the mornings, but when the sun beat down in the afternoon it was hot and uncomfortable. That second fan was needed! I hate to think what would've become of us had there been a real emergency considering the lousy service. I won't be back. I question the efficiency of the Vacasa team. :-(

Pool facilities unsatisfactory.
Very disappointed with the pool, hot tub. (We based our destination on pool/spa facilities. Pool was not heated, neither was the hot tub hot. Resident was very rude and shut off power to dry sauna while we were sitting in tepid hot tub waiting for dray sauna to heat up. Outwardly clean, cute. Was surprised to see owner's closets open and untidy, unfolded blankets in room closets with some questionable xtra pillows. Unit needs some polish and some honesty on the listing pertaining to pool etc.

Good place - could be cleaner
Place is a good value in terms of base rental fee. A $250 cleaning fee seems excessive as place was not too clean overall. Dishes still in the dishwasher and bed had grit between sheets.

Very spacious and cozy condo.
Cons- dim lighting, not enough shampoo, soap, and conditioner if you stay more than one night, five fuzzy channels on tv. Besides that I enjoyed my stay.
